    Steering head bearings, arg!

Ok I think its time to change mine, so are they a wanker to do? should I just rip out the old ones and pop down to Saeco? I've been quoted $99 from one place and $74 from another.

Real easy to do. Remove your master cylinder from the bars and remove the front end as one. Need a long punch to knock out the old outer races. Use a good waterproof grease on the new bearings. Can use the old outer races to knock in the new ones.
Good luck. Hope this helps you.......

And if you have trouble getting the races out get a welder and put a few welds on the race surface, being very careful not to weld them to the frame and they will just drop off/out
    Going away, busy?

I've got a hot air soldering iron so I can easily heat the bearing up to about 300+ degrees.

I'll give it a go, sometime soon....

Needs to be a welder... You run a bead around the bearing and it loosens it... On saying this you'd only ever have to do this if the bearing won't budge by giving it a whack or three. Need to hit one side first then the other.
