Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

We Vikings are very skillled a preserving meat for long journeys. There is some preserved meat on display in a Viking museum in Copenhagen that is over 1000 years old!

I'm not saying I'd try it though...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Look you racist cunts, this is where your thinking is going wrong. NZ is a bi-cultural society. Not a multi-cultural society. That's why Te Reo and English are the two official languages.

So it's only right that we have a Bro Roll and an Everyone Else Roll. Despite the fact that my ancestors arrived long after any f***ing treaty was signed, I'm quite happy to waste shedloads of my hard earned taxes on useless bullshit. Just like Simjen's new motorbike... and a billion dollar treaty settlement here and there.

    Maori electoral role!

I find this subject one of great interest.

Firstly I do not believe there are very many "Maoris" left in New Zealand.

I mean there are very many people who were born in NZ of mixed race origins, some of whom were Maori! (about 15%?)

I am a New Zealander of mixed race origins but I do not know of any Maori amongst my ancestors (but I am a third or fourth generation New Zealander).

If you think about the miracle of conception and the number things that must be precisely in place at that precise moment for that to happen, it is amazing that any of us as individuals even exist.

We could just as easily ended up a menstrual flush, a wank, or even a wet dream!

We would not have ended up as someone else! We simply would not exist!

I get the feeling that some Maori radicals seem to think that had Europeans etc not have come here that they would have ended up as some Utopian pure breed "Maori"! (what bullshit)

Simply not true, they simply would not exist! The pure bred "Maori" in Utopia would be someone else!

Why then, do these people despise the arrival "Pakeha"? For had they not come, they simply would not be here themselves! (At all)

Bear that fact in mind when I claim that the "so called" Maori of this nation are New Zealanders of "mixed race" origins, some of whom were "Maori".

Now to the Maori electoral role:

I think it would be great if "all" of the people of "Maori" descent enrolled on the Maori role because the so called "Maori" would then be able to have their proportional representation in the running of the country.

    Why do I think this?

Because they would no longer have anyone else to "blame".

Because it would get them "involved".

Because it would make them get off their arse and work for the future of the country instead of sitting back and grizzling about how hard done by they are.

They would have to introduce policies that would be attractive to other representatives from the rest of the population to get the support to pass their legislation through parliament.

If you look at the "Maori" members in parliament now, notice how they have changed from their initial election to now. What a difference in each of them!

Responsibility and power have changed every one of them "for the better".(IMHO)

I believe that those changes would be universal amongst their representatives if they had all their seats and that they had something to work for and goals to focus on.

So for me ,I say give them all the seats they are entitled to and watch them grow out of the bog of self pity and backward thinking that so many have got themselves into today.

I am not at all threatened by their presence in parliament but I certainly feel threatened by the state of affairs we have today.

You only have to look at the New Zealand armed forces to see that a committed "Maori" with direction and purpose is as good or better than any other soldier in the world.

"Maori", overseas, free from the shackles of "entitlement" are extremely successful and well sort after by employers etc.

I believe that given that same chance in the politics of this nation ( and they have that chance) "Maori" will shine as "contributors" rather than as the "detractors" that so many of them "choose" to be today.

Conclusion: Fill all the "Maori" role with "Maori" and let them have their seats and let them pull their weight and "honour the treaty" in the way that they claim that we do not!

The opportunity has been there since MMP began, I don't know why it has taken them so long to wake up! Perhaps they were just too busy moaning!!!

I think that the more successful the "Maori" become, the less relevant the "Maori" seats will be and they (the seats) will disappear as a natural process of evolution.

Just my thoughts for what they may be worth. Cheers John.

    Scandinavian in North land.
Nga Puhi legend actualy talks of them.
There's still the remains of a Scandinavian stone block village in one of northlands forests, but the location is a closly guarded secret, and all access is totaly bared by both locals and Gov't.
The Auckland Uni' sent a team up there a few years ago to gather photographic evidence. They did manage to get in and get heaps of Pic's but they were all taken and the whole thing covered up on their return.
There's an old Wha hau legend that talks about living under the sufferage of a blond haired fair skinned race.
You have to ask where they got the idea from if nothing else.
    Anyway, WTF.

    Damn your good,,,and right.
I'm 1/8th maori, decended from "Wharepapa" paramount chief of Wha Hau Nga Puhi.Funny enough EVERY one of my family members from Wharepapa's day on is only part Maori. The other bit or bits are Scot,Irish, english, french, but when the bro's are on the bludge they conveniantly forget that none of them are anymore REAL maori than I am,an I'm just another Kiwi shit kicker.

why do these types of issues get all fucked up on KB?... it's a simple question... and none of us like the answer.
Solution... we all vote on the Maori roll (a bit of homework and you'll find a way Im sure) as was suggested already...

Our royal government will quickly make changes to our voting procedures in order to stay in power... we wont lose Maori seats because voters apparently like Maori, all other minority groups will still have the Governor G to give them rep too.

Or the royal government could step aside and Maori will become the general roll but we could have some reserved pakeha seats... they could even have their own roll... now theres an idea.

Lets vote for the KBers party... common spankme be my leader...
