Why do we have the Maori electoral role? To appease the shit stirrers probably. There aren't Samoan, Tokelau, Indian, Chinese, Iranian, .... electoral roles. If it was suggested then you'd get laughed at. Oh but wait, the Maori are the indegenous people of this land... NO they're not!! So what if they arrived here before the European settlers? By the Maori's own historical memories they are immigrants to NZ. Enough of the divisive politics. One role for one people. NZ has been built from the strengths of all the people (of different races) who've come and does not belong historically to any one group.
    rant over.
You should have started this thread Mr Poppy....a well written and concise view.
You are right mate...my Daughter is 'indegenous'........the land is for all and not to let fall.

That buggers my cunning plan. One-sixteenth Maori? I think that rules me out.

Apparently one-sixteenth would still allow you to be registered on the Maori roll as long as you can prove your whakapapa and seeing as they want/need as many people as they can I doubt that they'd make it hard for you...

I thought the Romans were here first? There is documented proof of that through their reports of the Taupo eruption some 1900 years ago
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you'll probably find that scientists/ historians have now managed to tie Roman records of weather events etc to being effects of the Taupo eruption. The chances of them making it all the way here and home again are bugger all.

The Vikings on the other hand are another story....plenty of evidence of their seafaring competence, and we know they made it to America first.
