Definitely the most well organized ride I’ve been on since the site started. Well done to the organizers. It was good how the ride was kept moving. No pissing about on the short stops as tends to happen on other rides.

...I thought the roads were fairly average until we got to the forest. That was just bloody awesome. I love the real tight twisty stuff..... So what road was that and what’s the quickest way to get there?

Cheers mate,was certainly a lot of behind the scenes stuff happening from a few of us. Glad there weren't any bins which I put down to having more than one speed group therefore the cruisey crew weren't getting "harrassed" by others. Next time though we might make an extra group...Insane :slap:
The quickest way to the Waipoua Forest is through Mangatoroto/Paparoa and then on to Dargiville...SH12. From there you'll know the way. PM me if you require tail lights to follow so you're not guessing with the up coming corners.
I'm also wrapped with the Gold Coin Koha/Donation...didn't hurt anyone and will continue for future Norfland organised rides too

In saying that i'm not overly keen on an early grave, as not many are, some, but not many, i wont make a 50/50 pass on a bend if it means keeping up with the guy in front, not worth it, and people who do all the crazy passing, using both lanes of the road and shit i dont wanna ride with, they're only lucky if they are in front of you at the next stop, hate plonkers who go bragging about who they owned such and such when it was because such and such thought better about a head on with a car full of kids instead of chancing it. Or becasue such and such doesn't see the point in full noise in a straight line (waste of gas and tyres)a big bike is fkn hard to steer at high speed, leave it for the twisty's, very rarely do i hit above 200kph, no point, the mess is just bigger. When me and the faster guys go for a blast we keep it to 160-180kph on the straight bits then attack the twistys full on, it keeps the group closer together and this way sometimes helps other riders improve with the fast guys always in sight. Plus it gives an easier chance to pass the guy in front that maybe slightly holding you up in the twisty section, once you get a faster group it's just to hard/dangerous to put a pass on, any muppet can nail a 1000cc in a straight line and make it hard to pass and slow you up in the twisty's, which gets frustrating and someone trys something dumb and well what happens from there is anyones guess.

Well, I think it worked out better than I thought it would. The main thing - NO BINS! The 'bin' as mentioned earlier in the thread was from a 250 rider who turned around and went home.

Couple of problems

- 2 Flat Tyres
- Couple people went the wrong way/some intersections werent marked out
- Broken Exhaust Mount
- Couple of Speeding Tickets
- 1 Pair of boots with a worn through hole in the toe
- Norfland Crew givin the learn

However, a very successful ride!

THIS RIDE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT THE PARTICIPANTS - THANKS ALL WHO ATTENDED. Together we raised $204.50 for SPANKME, Im sure he will put it to good use :spudwow:


Keep ya eyes peeled for the next organised weekend ride, hopefully within the next 3 months or so, however I am still doin the Thursday Night rides for those with 'mid-week withdrawls'. We will give you plenty of notice, so no excuses this time

Well its taken me at least an hour to read through the threat since the ride. What a fantastic day, its the best social event I can ever remember At Sharkys we calculated there was probably over $1,000,000 (yes thats one million dollars for those who cant count the zeros) worth of bikes. That's impressive. I met so many great people and kept referring to everyone by the wrong name Swanny thanks a heap for TEC, I know what it feels like so your a legend mate for volunteering Had a great ride through to Dargaville with Qkchk pushing me along (sorry to hold you up in the corners, changing my riding style so all up the wop). There were times when I was out on the open highway from Sharkys up to the forest all by my lonesome wondering 'what 60 freaking bikes'. The evening back here just got better as we waited for the superbikes to start. Nodrog and Korumba you guys were bloody funny, a comedy act if ever I saw one, we should sell tickets next time. The best part about the whole day was everyone was sensible enough to ride their own ride. I think the groups sorted themselves out nicely. I wish I could have got around and met everyone there but it was just too busy. Wybmadiity you can ride girl, and to do it on ya wee beast ALL bloody day (5am start I believe) with very little sleep then party with us half the night, babe you put some of them blokes seriously to shame Sooo looking forward to the next one

No, its a 600. But when the missus is on the back I pretty much ride it like a 250cc. Pillion comfort and all that. All i'd get from upping the pace is a punch in the kidneys.

The 250 rule was more about the inexperience than the speed, you would've been fine.

Was a great ride, thanks to all involved. Was awesome to catch up with you all, and to meet some new faces. Little disappointed as I never found my zone until the last section from Kaikohe, and then everyone else was in cruise mode. But shit happens.
Big thanks to TL and Ducgirl for your hospitality, looking forward to being able to repay the favour and showing you around some of the local roads..... and of course the Coroglen Tavern aye Korn!

Riderinblack for being the mobile machanic, you saved yet again alot of people from difficult situations. Also Mike from Maunders Suzuki who so kindly gave up his bike and ride to NZKilt. The support we are getting up here from this Suzuki dealership is awesome, even after TL Rider has defected to the Kawazaki side, but we still support Maunders whenever we can. So keep bringing ya bucks to Norfland folks, we can do with the extra in our economy
