Surely you weren't so naive as to post this thread on here expecting to get all praise, sympathy and understanding?
Some of the un-PC quips are just as supportive as the PC ones when you think about it. We all have our own ways of dealing with things.
Our daughter had a wee bit of bother with this problem and for me it's just as Sarge says.
It's a choice thing like smoking, drinking, drugs etc but then I'm an unfeeling stupid old black and white bastard according to her Mother.
Good on you if you have beaten something that was difficult for you to overcome but I hope you don't expect everyone to understand it. :spudwhat:

Expecting praise, sympathy and understanding? No actually. Theres someone on KB who has had the guts to come out and admit that she has been there and made it through. Isn't that how you start on your road to recovery? By admitting that you have a problem? So a child with ADHD, or tourettes made the choice to be the way that they are? Just like someone who suffers from an eating disorder? Sorry, but have a heart. It ain't as simple as it sounds.

EDIT: If shaz wants to share her story let her, it can be useful for some people. And good on her for being open and honest about an issue thats kept in the closet.

no Kittie.. ADHD or Touretts is a systemic malfunction caused by an imbalance of whatever .. ED's are just a weakness or Vanity.. so yes it is fair to equate them with any smokers, drinkers or addicts.. same free choice led them here ..

Luckily there are some people who do understand......it is personal choice so this is not a pop at you oldrider.....myself I care, understand, try to if it is new to me and help regardless..........choice is not always easy for some.

Have you seen the pecking order of girls in school? If your hairs not cut just right your a geek. If your slightly biggish your a fat bitch. If your skinny or pretty your a bitch or a slut.

"hey look at this model, ain't she perfect" Its drilled into your head that what you see on the telly or in a magazine is the perfect person. Forget about all the adjustments made to their pictures to make them look good. Perfect = flawless skin and stick figure-ish body. Try telling a teenage girl that thats not the case when its crammed down their throat everywhere they look.

For some it may well be........take my situation, I have not turned to alcohol, drugs etc so I have not copped out, I have just got on with it..........ED is a complex issue and as MisterD says we are talking about teenage girls (and some boys) who are vunerable....most survive, a few do not...guess it is life's selection.....and most come from middle class backgrounds too.

I guess we cannot generalise...

Anyway, bit nervous of bringing me SV in for service Tuesday now.......it needs love and care ya know..........................
