In all honesty ..... I think this is a thread that needs to be treated with respect.... we have a fellow member that is being open and honest and asking for assistance in her attempt to maybe greatly help someone else that has a similar situation.
And ... while some may think EDs are self inflicted and some may not....they are a VERY REAL problem to the sufferer, and these people need non judgemental friends and not people pointing the finger at them.

I dont personally know anyone with an ED but there are organizations out there that may assist in your data/fact collecting, could try ringing the hospital for details of local support groups etc for info you can use.

There were some comments earlier about addictions being self inflicted. Wow,that would have to have been the most arrogant, uneducated comment (about social problems) I have ever heard relating to such issues.

ok.. on one hand you dig that comment but then you bash me as uneducated and arrogant..tell me why anyone would want to do that to themselves?... same as Heroin or P.. you know it will eventually kill you but still you put it up your nose for the instant gratification of the " High"..
