Come on people! Would rather sell to a Kber than give it to the shop.

It's just one of those days, where you don't wanna wake up,
    everything is fucked, everybody sucks,
You don't really know why but you wanna justify ripping someone's head off

    Yeah, a real waste.

I would have bought it but I am struggling to hold onto my 1400 with the time of the year when Helen stands waiting for tax payments.

Kinda thought the Busa would be a little 'sportier" and still be able to take the missus in comfort.

Anywas, good on you for offering it here first. great deal, it would have been for someone. Wish it had been me.

Bike can be viewed at Henderson Motorcycles, View Road Henderson. Give Adam a call and he will sort you out (he has looked after me very well - in fact thats where I originally bought the Busa from )

Or look here at his website:

    Qkchk

    Hope the sale goes well.

A good friend of mine whom I go riding with is looking to sell his 02 750 Gixxer and go to a litre. He is seriously considering getting the Anniversary R1.

Can I ask what made you decide to go to the R1. (I told my friend that a KBer had made the jump to a Yamaha and getting their feedback might prove useful)

    PM me if appropriate.

    Cheers

For me the newer shape R1 is a masterpiece in design. (See attached pics)

PERSONALLY I cannot fault one part of the bike - for looks. Love the front end and its arse. Who would of thought that they would take the headlights off a Mazda 6 and put them on a bike? As for the cute arse, just love the way they designed the tailpipes into the tailight/rear section! How about the sexy swingarm huh? Why have a straight piece of aluminium?

As for the ride, I took a 'just wetted' demo bike out with only 00035kms on the clock and brought it back with 180kms! Loved it to bits and they say that the R1 only gets better the more broken in it becomes. The bike delivered a smooth power range, it wasnt goin to anything too silly on you even tho I only could take it 7K(not suited to all tho). The ride position was very suitable for me. I would say its halfway between the K4 Gixxer and the Hayabusa. Probably the most upright of the 4 literbikes. Very nice sound from the underseat exhausts, no need for mods for extra noise as I feel they were loud enough standard. The only downside to underseat pipes is that you do feel alot of heat from them. (Suits me fine as I feel the cold terribely) but if you dont like a warm bum, then I would suggest another bike. (not that there is many non-underseat bikes left now - only the GSXR)

One thing that surprised me most of all was the seat height. The R1 is rated at 835mm compared to the K5 GSXR at 810mm. http://www.motorbikes.be/en/compare/4593/4625/ However when I sit on the R1 I can place both feet flat on the ground as with the GSXR I still tip-toe on 1 foot. The answer? The R1 has a narrow width at the tank so your legs arent so spread. Quite clever thinking...

As for handling, coming off the Busa and then riding the R1 was comparing driving a truck to a mini. The busa was heavy on the road, harder to get through corners but was very sure-footed. With the R1, the best way I could descirbe the feel was 'sharp'. If you have ever had the priviledge to ride a 2004/5 Aprilia RSV1000 Factory then you would know what I mean. Very sharp and stable feel to the bike. Didnt wallow/bounce/skip or play silly-buggers with you. The R1 brings more confidence in the rider with every corner. It's one bike I could trust, alot.

Why the 50th Anniversary? I can remember seeing that colour scheme on the road and the racetrack. Maybe Im a bit nostalgic and like the retro look....... (see last pic - old orginial race bike with the new R1) even tho the pictures do the bike no justice. Believe me, the bike looks VERY nice in the flesh. Can't wait!

Hmm, not a bad choice of machine to trade to! Do you notice the differences in torque much between the busa and the r1? Silly question i know, the stats speak themselves, but i mean form a seat of the pants feel.

    Thanks Qkchk
Awesome feedback! and thanks for the pics. I'll pass your comments on.

The seat height and colour (mate has black and yellow leathers) are what got him initially interested in the R1. I guess what he really needs to do is to take it out for a ride...

    All the best

Could really give you an honest opinion - The demo bike was soooo fresh could only take it up to 7K. But from what I could get out of the R1 it feels very similar to the busa, very smooth torque output. No sudden bouts of power, it was just there all through the revs. But I could be corrected as I have heard that the R1 becomes 'alive' after 8K. Guess I will have to find out!
