    Angry Broadband help

Ok, my dail-up net was shite as. Kept disconnecting and when it did, connected rather slow.

So we get broadband with ihug, get the telescum guys to do the wiring shite, but wait, and we get a letter saying welcome to boradband etc but wait, they forgot to order us a modem, useless c*nts

So we get the modem, set it up, try to use it, no signal? , try again for like 30mins, then for some reason it goes. It works for the day. The next day it doesn't work until like 8:30pm, I had given up and went out to dinner, and then it was working when I got back. And on the 10th I worked for the morning, then died. Hasn't worked since.

We had the telescum boys out today, the lines in the house are ok they say. So I ring up ihug, they just go over the same crap like 'turn it off and on etc', now they're pointing us back to telecon

Anyone else had some shit like this? any other ISP's you could recommend, cause we might just tell ihug to fuck off if they don't pull finger.

    Rant over

    In my own experience

Getting service from any telecommunications company in this country is like pulling teeth (sorry dude).
It amazes me on a regular basis that when I phone the leccy company to abuse them I go straight through and recieve excellent service. I phone the TELEPHONE company and go on hold for at least half a friggin hour. What's up with that, dont they have enough friggin TELEPHONES or something.
    Fuckers!!!

    Phew, that feels better aye???

Check for other items on the same line eg. alarm, faulty phones, I have had situations where the filter had not been installed properly.
The bigest way of telling if it is telescum or ihug(not the most helpful ISP I have found) is if the DSL light goes off it is a Telecom or phoneline problem faulty phone, alarm system interfering.

Had similar problems when we first got broadband. Can't remember how I solved it but I played around with the settings alot and seemed to sort itself out and now only gives occasional problems - similar to what you describe but they only last a few mins usually.

    Honestly people.

Indy - Telescum? Seems your problem is with IHug...

Max - We've got all the phone lines in the country, but if 150 people are all calling at the same time and there is only 50 people answering calls, and each call takes 10mins... you do the math...

You will be pleased to learn that I do not subscribe to any Telecom services.
The fact remains that an electricity retailer can provide a better telephone customer service than one of the two main telephone service providers.

I'd switch over to Telecom, but they're a bunch of pricks too...

yeah, I only have the modem, I might try some other modems on the weekend with magua, see that helps at all, but I've tried everything I can think of, but yeah, it's a c*nt. Ihug and telecon are just passing the ball to one another, man it's annoying lol

the different ISP's are changing the way that DSL works and may not be the same as this but this the general standard unles you are using PPPOE which I don't think so since Telecom is involved.
    VPI 0
    VCI 100
    Ecapsulation VC-MUX
    Authentication PAP or auto
    Nat should be enabled.

But if your DSL light is going out then these aint going to help you.

Possibly check for spyware, but thats not "usually" intermittant.

That's about all I can offer sorry.

So put more people at the end of all those fucking phone lines during peak times, or divert overflow calls to India or Pakistan. Hell, I'd probably get more sense out of a Pakistani anyways........ Gotta be better than listening to a fucking machine forever.

    WINJA is spot on.

only way to beat them is to ring. first thing you do is get the persons name and extension, tell them you have a problem, no they dont transfer you. tell them you will be calling them back if its not fixed, not anybody else. them. tell them if you have to call them back a second time about the same problem you will be contacting the companies HR manager about your lack of customer service satisfaction.

9 times out of 10, most of these companies will just go through a 5 point check list, and if they dont fix the problem by the time they get to the end of it, they escalate your call to somebody else, which is geek speak for transfering you to somebody else who doesn't give a fuck.

talk to one person, get there name and dont leave them alone till the problem is fixed.

funny - i always picked WINJA as a telecom phone operator. I hate telecom so much. every cunt on the phone is completely useless.
    gone.

I have just used up my 1G of usage this month already after only 8 days and I am still getting 1.1Mb/s downstream, should have slowed to 54Kb/s.
Maybe telecom have done something right afterall!

WHAT ABOUT PROVIDING A FUCKEN SERVICE THAT WORKS SO WE DONT HAVE TO CALL IN THE FIRST PLACE, TELECOM HAS RACKED UP HUGE PROFITS AND HAVE INVESTED FUCK ALL IN TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE .
AND LOOK AT THAT SITUATION WHERE THE CHARGE $32 FOR A PHONE LINE WHERE TELSTRA CLEAR OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AND $40 FOR ALL US OTHER FOOLS
