Taupo Old circuit 250 lap times? Also manfield

Just getting a general idea of what I should aim for when I go to taupo at the end of the month for the next round of the AMCC club champs. Also wondering about times around Manfield.

So I'm wondering what my fellow 250 rider's are capable of. (Also wondering about the 150 2 strokers.

Aim to have fun and walk away at the end of the day.

All else is pales in to insignificance if you don't achieve that.

I know the deal. Fall off and its not a good day. I'm pretty determined to go quick, but I usually leave enough margin for error. However I'm just using this race at Taupo as a chance to learn the track before going back the next weekend to race a PMCC streetstock race. Should be much more agreeable after racing in F3 the week before.

New surface is a vast improvement over the old one. Didn't time it when I did the track day but loved it. Managed to scrape the pegs a couple of times (nearly lost bowel control the first time).
Only ever done the Manfield on a push bike with bent forks and no tires so not much help there either.

Yep, thats the plan Alarumba. I'll be racing on the 30th of April and the 7th of May both at Taupo, and on the 14th of May at Manfield. Damn thats a shitload of tootling along in Dad's van. Three weekends on the trot, I can't wait, just hope my engine holds up, it's using a bit of oil at the moment, so I'm about to chuck in the thicker 20w50 and see if that helps. Still feels like its got alright power. But I'll find out on the 30th.

And thanks for the opinions, even if getting times out of you is not working.

Also Alarumba, you are a legend at games, so I'm pretty sure that can be transferred to racing skills pretty easily, I'm pretty sure playing Gran Turismo for ages when I was a bit younger helped my race track skills.

Its all accademic in that even the "old" track is actually in a fair few places a new track.
I think the 150 SS bikes did the old track in about 48s

Cant remember exactly but think I was around 50 sec at taupo, alot more techincal than Puke mate but ou will do great.
Cause I know you are interested , I dropped my bike off to Shaun Harris yesterday, he checked a couple of things and suggested it aint right so hopefully with a few bucks thrown at it the bike will be better, as an example the rear shock is fuked completely and the front shocks have to much oil in them. Will be looking at a better result for this race day and hpefully will have the bike to do it.
I think you and I will be having another good battle again mate, looking forward to it !!

I used to play Gran Turismo for hours on end, I remember distinctly annihilating Mazda Demios in my Dodge Viper GTS around the Autumn Mini Track, and I had also played around with remote control cars and even took my car to the R/C race track in Lower Hutt, so I knew race lines in theory. But in practice I wasn't very good at all. I was overshooting a lot of the corners. I only made up time by shifting down several gears before every corner so I would be over 10k-12k rpm coming out of the corner (revving any lower than that seemed to take forever to pick up speed again) and I wasn't afraid of shifting down in the corner which wasn't very smart (rear wheel got a bit of air time). I was averaging 2 seconds faster than the next fastest bike (Max on his RG, very cool guy).

The RG is a bit gutless so I should be keeping my speed down and hopefully I’ll complete the season this time

1:29's seem to be on the money at Manfield... not to sure on what bike it was though (could have been a 150)

I would aim for around 48 for the new track... On the 400 i did high 43's around the old old track, and low 42's around the new old track...

Alarumba: Funny you should bring up the RC car thing. I've got a Nitro Powered Kyosho Porsche 911 GT1 sitting in its box under my bed right next to me. I used to take it to the Mt Richmond RC track here in Auckland every now and again, but now I haven't used it in about a year. I think I buggered its engine finally. I reckon the more time playing these racing related games be it RC or PC it all helps you gain skills that you can then apply to the actual race track once you have built up some confidence.
