biker killed by tractor in Matamata

for your information the 56 year old male biker who was killed by a tractor at about 4.30 pm on Easter Monday April 17 2006 near Matamate was Jan Van Den Berg, he was an experienced rider who travelled vast distances. The collision occured when Jan was 100 meters from his home.

Jan was a dutchman who originally rode and raced motorcycles in Holland, and came to New Zealand some 25 years ago.

Jan will be sadly missed by a great many people, especially Roger, Rat and Leo

I will miss Jan big time, too. One hell of a nice guy; his passion for bikes makes most of us here look positively disinterested.

    That is real sad.

Stats seem to show that most accidents occur within 5kms of home.
My worst was a 100 metres from home.

    RIP
