CB550 BRake kit reinstall - help please

    CB550 '76/77

I have pulled the master cylinder to bits and I am now installing a new kit in it.

The pictures (top bits) show the old internals ordered as they came out. (I think they were wrong previously because the snap ring was out side the circlip!)

The row under that are the new bits in the supposed order.

The diagram shows the work shop manual

I am confused: where does the circlip go. Inside or outside the Boot? (Does it hold the boot in place or is it a stopper for the piston ?)

Where does the internal snap ring sit and what does it do?

The rubber cup I have to the side - is it correctly sited on the old piston assembly?

    Re: Master cylinder

    Gidday,
Put it back together as per the the parts diagram in your manual - the circlips will only fit in one particular location...

    Cheers

To finish first - first you must finish... Oh b.t.w, which way doe's Turn 1 go & whats the lap record...

Alright mate, non return valve, spring, then protective rubber cap, then piston (note that part 8 fits onto part 7 first) then the washer, then the circlip, then the rubber boot. Worth assembling and testing without fitting the rubber boot as its a prick to get off without damaging it again. Part 3 is shown as a seperate part but on mine is already fitted to part 4. Also don't worry if you find it leaks when you first start bleeding and testing - if you pull the lever back to the bars (never normally happens in use) they will weep, best not to pull back too far when bleeding as air will find its way in.

Thanx all - got some good advice including the PMs.

    Appreciate it.

UPDATE: Set it all up then found a crack in the top hose. Wondered where all the bubbles were coming from !.....Sorting braided line system now.

Man that circlip is a bitch to get in and out the first time you do it.
