Arrow Lifestock, road repairs done on Old North/Peak Rd - 21/4/06

Livestock on country roads and also road repairs done on Old North/Peak Rd - 21/4/06

I have just been up Old North Rd and Peak Rd this arvo/evening.

Please keep an eye out for a female Deer running loose on Peak Rd.
Yep, there is was about 7 kms up Peak Rd. (heading towards Kaukapakapa)... slowing traffic down.
It did finally jump the ditch, over the fence into someone's farm...
but at any stage it could reappear back on the road.
So please keep your eyes peeled as they are really skiterish animals.

Also free ranging chooks on Old North Rd... near the forest section wandering all over the road.

Road repairs completed - At the end on the forest section where it had the shuddering type corner.... some contractors have been in and thrown asphalt on that corner. I won't say its the best bit of road works done.. but it means no more shuddering of your bike on that particular corner. But the asphalt is quite a bit higher than the road level.
(Its the corner before the paint-ball corner)

Plus a bit further up on the left hand side of the road is another narrow long section that has been asphalted.

I wish the contractors would sort out the corner as you just turn onto Peak Road.... as it not a nice corner.

them good eating those deer luv.....but to be honest....best u tip off the local police/animal control.....because it will hav to be shot before it does cause a crash....you can't catch or round up deer with farm dogs/and bikes if they arn't behind deer fences....

I once traded a guy a dozen editions of Soldier of Fortune for a Deers leg. I took it home and said to my mum "cook this" to which she replied "WHAT THE FUCK!"

    Cool

cowpoos - I told my friends that I was visiting up that way....
She got hold of her hubby... he loves deer hunting...
so he did shoot back up the road and couldnt find it..
He is heading out again tonight....... if he finds it..

He was also contacting one of the local deer farmers in that area to see if it was his... if not... he is gonna try to go after it....

She had a ear tag on it as well...
The fences seem to get holes in them a lot up that way...
Its the first time that I have ever seen a deer runing loose on the road...

I had two cars in front of me and one behind me.... so I stayed well clear of the front two cars.... and signalled to the car behind to slow it down...

I know that cows are real skitty on the open roads... and seeing that deer totally bewildered. and freaking out... I was prepared to completely stop until the way was clear.
