I've only got this weekend to finish getting ready and have a big list of stuff to complete as the following weekend is my wifes b'day.

I also got some new oxford panniers and want to have a ride with all of the gear on to make sure its all going to work and more importantly stay on the bike! I still have no idea where i'm going to fit all of the stuff I want to take.

Had dinner the other night with a friend who will be doing his 10th BM, but from Te Anau this year. Gave me some good yarns about pissed people falling over stuff and off bikes doing silly bugger stuff.

For the benefit of you North Island Madbastards heading to the Brass, if you see a 1955 Ford F100 pick-up coloured goldy-brown and with a big bonnet-scoop heading north from Christchurch give us a wave, - C.B and I are heading to Blenhiem.

If you DON'T know what a 1955 F100 looks like I suggest you Google and find out!! ( and feel suitably ashamed for not knowing)

And any true motorcyclists with that weekend off duty should also feel suitably ashamed for missing motorcyclings Mecca.

But dodn't worry, I'll be there on the RE5, and will have a for friends who can't make it.
    Time to ride

And WHO spent the whole weekend there last year?????? - and who did NOT??

And are you taking your Doris there? I think not, hence why C.B. and I are heading away in the 'lorry' this year!! (which is only a little more marginal to a motorbike in keeping the cold breeze out).

Yes. I am chastised that I had to work last year, so only did the ride there and home again, and didn't even go through the gate. And I did the ride on a modern bike and not the old classic, BUT I did travel on two wheels and not four.

Mrs J has not yet decided whether she will go this year or not, but it does look like i'll have both of my bikes there. K14 is going to take the GS1200SS while I ride the RE5. The long range weather forcast is for

    virgin myself to the rally

i'm looking forward to losing my virginity to this rally. and also it's easy to get too soft up here and worst of all i'm moving to northland (winterless north) so i will try to make this a yearly pilgrimage to keep from getting soft.
even though it's cool up here i still have not needed to use the internal liners as yet. its easy to get soft.
    "ewww no its raining" etc.
time to harden up and hopefully not freeze up.

but is it ok to bring a duvet?

Getting my new back tyre this arvo, but can't find my mrs to leave the kids with her.

Talking about getting soft, I was talking with Kerry from Motohaus (doing me an excellent deal on an Avon) and he is heading off on Friday nite, catching the 2am ferry, leaving Picton at 5am is and riding straight to the site on Sat. I think he's getting soft - in the head.

Got the new rear tyre this arvo and it already has chicken strips.

Then went home and put the panniers, pack, tent, etc etc on the bike and went for a test ride to see what it was like with a bike full of shite. Just the same as having mrs paturoa on the back. I went up the nw motorway and it was quite windy, all was fine.

I have a 3rd rider at this stage (non-KBer) leaving AK with us.

T.I.E and I will be finalising the details this week and will post the route and possible "join points" for others to join (or just do a part ride with us - diddle if a leave pass is granted) this coming week.

We have 2 amazing offers of accomodation in CHCH for Friday nite.

On the way home, a gent on a FJ caught up and we had a short chat at the lights, if u r a KBer then

It was -4 in Alex this morning, and you can bet that Oterehua would be a couple of degrees cooler. Looks like we may be getting back to the types of Brass that we used to have.

    Time to ride
