I'm assuming I'm FDU... I'll be heading down on sat. What time I'm not quite so sure as I have to go into town on the friday night, but I recon I can be sober and get enough sleep to be out in rolly by about 9 or 10.Originally Posted by Rashika

Any one from Christchurch know of any tyre shop that changes bike tyres on the bike for you for free like Cycletreads do in Auckland. I expect my tyres to get me past Christchurch dont want to waste tyres got on by changing them before I leave when there is still good life left in them.

They advertise free fitting or freight c/a
Probably pay to contact them asap and arrange what tyres you want & to organise a booking for fitting them![]()
Kerry from Motohaus did me a very sharp deal on a new rear and I brought the old half worn one home. When the new one is shagged i'll pay him labour to put it back on. It will cost me a little extra this way, but I wont have any hassles or delays on the trip down, and I know that I wil have good tyres for the whole trip.Originally Posted by doc
If you mention this thread he said that he would do 10%. Pull a face, suck some air, frown a little, tell him about your 10 kids etc etc and see what he says from there.
i hope to pop over sometime this weekend and pick up the flag and stand.
also if this weather would lighten up i can get tent and gear waterproofed.
the garage will be taken over this week and gear sprawled all. also a check list.

Found out today that I've got friday before off work (full pay and it doesn't come off my holidays). The CEO decided to be generous and give everyone at work (in the Christchurch branch) the day off.![]()
All nice and happy now.![]()
Well Green Meanie can not make the Brass now.
On Wednesday he was at work and had to taken to the Hospital.
It turned out the his hernia that he has had for a long time got worse.
And it strangulated (hernia) it self.
He is not a well lad at the moment and we will miss him on the ride.
He is right pissed off after all the gear he has bought for this trip and was as keen as mustard to do the ride (Dansey Pass) and the whole rally thing for the first time.
So look after yourself mate and get well, so we can go for a ride.![]()

Thats bad luck, Hope he has a speedy recovery and I'll be sure to post some photos for him.

Ouch, that's gotta be uncomfortable. Say hi to him for me, and I hope he's on the mend soon. All that effort to get those tyres on too, you'll be able to reclaim that battleship you stuck on there for balance now.Originally Posted by lemans
Flocker (KLR650) and I will be leaving Chch at 1130 Friday and going to Kurow via MacKenzie Pass and Hakataramea Pass and staying at the Kurow Motor Camp on Friday night now. Then go to the site on Saturday via Danseys Pass.
Decided not to go to Danseys Pass Motor Camp, as apparently there nothing else there. At least Kurow will have a warm pub and a hot meal on offer.
Transalper and co are staying there too, so we'll catch up with them there, and hopefully catch up with you and SDU on the Sat morn.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
I know a few parking up there for the night aswell... keep an eye out for a black Mk4/5 LemansOriginally Posted by far queue

Sounds like there might quite a number of us there then, as there's half a dozen or so in Transalpers group.Originally Posted by dangerous

But at the moment he is on the real good drug's and is a bit of a giggle with the stuff he is coming out with.
The strange thing is that on Friday the Hospital had told him to come on on Tuesday for the operation.
He turned it down so he could still do the trip.
And on the Wednesday he had the op whether he wanted it or not.
Must have meant to be, I guess.

When he is better we will do a trip on two on them to break them in so to speak, before we put some good knobs back on.
May do an over night'er somewhere.
But that will be 4-5+ weeks away at least.
Not sure what time we are leaving or what we are now now doing as there is only to two of us.Originally Posted by far queue
I do not think Sal, as much as she would like to do that route that you to are doing, could do it.
As it is her first long solo trip with gear. May run it buy her and ring you.
We will have to see how she feels on the way down, who knows, we'll see.
Have a safe and good trip.
Sounds like a better plan to me as well.Originally Posted by far queue
We are stopping at the Danseys Pass Pub, it's a must on the way though.
We may come and see you and the rest there. As we plan to ride though there, but we may be to early for you lot.Originally Posted by far queue
As we are spending the night at Kauru Hill area.
And we do not want to be back tracking until the morning to do the Danseys Pass. So have a good night you lot.
We will be with 6 Wolf Hounds running around the house.
