Spoke to local today who said they are getting nippy mornings & mild days but very damp underfoot which could cause fog for the weekend.
In light of all the rain they had recently, he recconmended taking groundsheet to put under tent.

Sounds like you are getting nervous Ft500, think positive! It won't change anything but at least you will feel better.Originally Posted by FT500

Gidday "Oldrider".
I'm not the slightest bit apprehensive & can't wait to depart.
How's Dansey's Pass looking?
Finished packing the gear, and are about to go and stack it all on the mule.
Unfortunately there was no room for the espresso machine and duvets![]()
We are off early tomorrow.![]()

Yep we are ready and waiting for Friday.
Did a dry run for loading and all good.
The load on the DR makes the seat height lower for SDU, which is a good thing.
As she will not have as far to fall off and gets her feet (both) on the ground.
Final check tomorrow night before blast off.
So all have a safe and uneventful trip and look out for that bloody black ice.
Cya there

Don't confuse education with intelligence.
There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.
I'll be there, aiming to arrive post-lunch on Saturday; will seek the flag!
I'm unsure of the route I'll take at this stage. Had initially thought anti-clockwise loop, south down the west coast and back home via the east coast, but might go the other way. Sounds like most of the traffic will be south towards the rally down the east side.
Sounds like Thompsons Track will be slow and icy, not to mention having to put the bike on the stand 34 times...not so easy on my bike.
Any locals able to fill me in on what the road is like from Roxburgh to Ranfurly? That is, Lake Onslow Road, Deep Creek Road, Puketoi Runs Road?
Thanks

Would really not recommend Lake Onslow road at the moment unless your tyres are A1 for off-road.Originally Posted by warewolf

Thanks for that. Is it as nice a ride as it looks on the map? Not too many straight bits?Originally Posted by Jantar

SDU
It is one of my favourite roads. A bit of straight section just out of Palmerston, then windy with plenty of hill work as far as Kyeburn. Fairly straight again to Ranfurly.Originally Posted by warewolf
