The current RSVR will be the last. The 999 will be the last V-Twin superbike from Ducati - unless they win the championship this year, though everything I've read suggests that the limited edition roadgoing Desmosedeici will form the basis of a less exotci rod/WSBK special.Originally Posted by Dynamytus50

Thanks to making sure the series rules suit them specifically, much the same way that Honda have setup MotoGP to suit them, first with the RC211V, and then with next year's 800cc limit in MotoGP. In the same way that Kenny Roberts ensured that HD would move heaven and earth to get the Japanese chucked out of steel shoe racing, Rossi has given Honda the impetus to get the cc limit changed, oddly enough with the rest of the manufacturers agreement in MotoGP.Originally Posted by popelli

The 1200 is going to be for the mid-range tourers and multistrada replacement. The 1000DS motor will be in the Sport Classic bikes. The Superbike racer has to be 1000cc or less. Ducati have lost the battle to get the V-twin limit raised to 1200cc in WSBK. It will be a 1000cc V4. Claudio Domenicalli confirmed that "Ducati will continue the tradition of only racing what they sell", which according Alan Cathcart, the interviewer, was a strong hint that a less exotic road going 1000cc V4 than the limited edition Desmosedeici was to form the basis of the WSBK homologation bike - the 999's replacement.Originally Posted by cowpoos

Or even better, roll-out an SV800 - the weight of the 650 with the power of the 1000!Originally Posted by popelli

The SP3-5 were just rebadged SP2s. Can;t see the SP6 being any different.Originally Posted by Dynamytus50

Interesting. Claudio Domenicali is obviously sending a message to his boss telling him to hurry up and build V4 street bikes then. The latest interview I read said that they would have a V4 WSBK contender for 2008.Originally Posted by Dynamytus50
They'll definitely keep building twins, I never said that they wouldn't, just that their Superbike and 999 replacement will be a V4.

The SP1's had a few handling issues. The SP2's were sorted out and they haven't changed since. In all honesty they are probably just repainting the left over stock each year and calling it an SP-whatever until they get rid of all of them.Originally Posted by Dynamytus50

The Ducati Cup? At least now they are playing on a relatively level field, unlike in Slight's era when the jap bikes were restricted to 750. The way it is running now has made it an interesting competition again, previously I'd completely lost interest because it was just a question of which Ducati rider would win.Originally Posted by Lou Girardin
