Mainly due to weak coil(s) but could also be dirty points (if the ignition uses them), low voltage supply to coil (bad wiring, corroded connector plugs, low battery voltage), damaged plug cap or plug lead.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

With cheap points sets, I have had the plastic break and the contacts slip out of alignment. Most often coil or battery though. Ask TS about battery probs, they can be very confusing as he found out
