    Track timing software

Okay i am i am doing some bits and pieces of software few things.

This part is more aimed at recording track times.

Pretty much how many bikes normally would someone want to record.

Remember all you have to do is push one button on keyboard per person

Is max people you wanting to record 1 or would you want something to record 2-3 people at once (remember at this point in time someone as to push a key, for never new lap, NOTE they don';t have to record time, software does that, just push the key when bike gets to point they are marking.)

More keys means more chance of pressing the wrong key for someone effectively screwing up 2 laps for 2 riders. So I'd say 2 at once otherwise there's a delay while the person doing the timing figures out which key to press, possibly skewing lap times.

Is the software intended for the Race organiser or just the race individual/team?

If its just the individual then usually only one bike (or maybe two if in a team). However while you have the stopwatch out, its also nice to know how fast the competition is going too so maybe an additional 1-2 on top of that.

This is for the race individual team.

Mental Trousers, i know, that to many keys = more mistakes,

more just gauging what the market is after, i am thinking 2-4 tops really, but just have to make sure.

Keep it simple, keep it cheap.
    1 or 2 riders at a time.

Funny this should come up Nail, me and Daryl are looking for something along the lines of lap timers for teams, only really needs to be automatic rather than manual, as we wont always have someone there to help out. but 2-4 bikes should be managable

Well automatic is a bit hard, unless you have something on the bike which can relay back to computer to record your passing, some sorta rf tag, or simlar.

This is all long term goal for a part of whole piece of software i am writing, but saying that i can throw something together pretty quickly for you two if you want something.

Pretty much record laptimes with someone on a laptop pushing buttons, for each rider. If you are wanting something i am sure i can look in to something which could work.

    What about transponder support ?
The contents of this post are my opinion and may not be subjected to any form of reality

Cajun.. ya just gotta remember that most older 'cheaper' laptops have farked batteries.. which are sometimes not very cheap to replace. Just keep that in mind.

I like the rf tag idea myself... readers pointing across the track.. ya could possible setup split times with multiple readers around the track... hmmm something to think about.

    CORONA'S

what real race teams are suponsed by

I have to have a think about what tags to use, a simple click laptime software is easy enough to do,

Demonwolf, - yeah thats understandable, but saying that you can pick up brand new laptops for under $1000. these in turn should give 2 1/2+ hours battery life at least.
