compaq recovery disc

does any one know how i can get the recovery discs to start?

Hmmm, guessing here but go into BIOS and check your drive start-up up order, it should be in order of cd-rom, then your hard drive. If it's not then put the cd-rom in position one, save your settings and exit BIOS. The computer will restart, and go to the cdrom first to look for a start-up file (or an operating system) and auto-run.

If youre using XP, there should be a recovery option, under 'start', 'all programs'; then look for a compaq tools folder.

but some of the older computers i had ta put in the 1st disc, turn the computer off for 30 seconds and restart.

i think my hard drive is rooted , windows xp and 2000 wont run they both say unformated or damaged , and since i took the formating option im picking that the hard drive is fucked, any sugestions
