    Good ride, average company.

Seriuously, bloody good value yesterday. Original idea was to go out for a cruz up to Wellsford and back around 3ish. That WAS the plan. Things worked out so differently.

    Problem 1.
    Expect the unexpected

We meet up and head off up SH16, get just before Kaukapakapa (just past Kaihakatea Flats Rd) and see a line of cars stopped by Roadworkmen. Thats fine except that around the corner (out of our sight) is a torrent of water about 2 - 3 feet deep. Hmmm, maybe we had more rain up here than first thought. We all do a U-turn and head up Kaihakatea Flats to join up with SH1. (How boring......) But the ride up ther was still a bit of a blast with Crashe taking some of the lead and making a very good pace. It pissed down a couple of times but for short bursts only - luckly. Met up with the Ratbag lot from Snorfland and chinwagged over a feed of McShit and L.J.S.

Only later on in the day did I think twice about riding through that water. I was never keen on the idea:

    - My Yammy was only 50kms new (and I mean, only 000050!)
    - The river was tidal so all those cage drivers who drove through it, good luck with the rust in a couple of years!

    Problem 2.
That bloody TLRider can be damn persuesive!

So the ride up to Wellsford and back had now turned into the cruz to Wellys then a blast up to Maungawhai for a drinksie. Each time we listen to this fella, we get led further astray from home. Never plan anything in concrete with this him around! Anyway after a fair amount of goin on from 'the ringleader' and a couple of brews later, we departed and headed back to Auckland. Couldnt pay myself go down SH1 so it was SH16 til Woodcocks Rd. (For those who dont know the road - it provides a link between SH16 and Warkworth. Not an easy road specially after the storm the night before....) Cut through to Warkworth where we spotted a couple of other guys, one on a red VTR250, the other on a red Zephyer. (Im sure it was one...)

    Problem 3.
When invited to a fellow KBers home, don't expect to leave til the late hours of the evening.

Damn that SPB. Makes a bloody good coffee and is the master of making Domino's Pizza. Well, I think wifey had alot to do with that. But hey, it's hard to leave when ya talking good, interesting Sorry to keep ya up til 11pm ........... Thanks for that SPB and J.

Sometimes you just dont know what can happen on a KB ride. BTW No binns!
