    Spending dosh on your 250

Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to upgrade to a bigger bike, but I still got about a year on my 250 so I'm gonna do anything and everything I can to make it run better/faster.

Who's on the same boat? I'm sure I'll be one of those guys that go, 'Just keep it stock.. sell it for what you got it for.. no one wants a modded bike blah blah'. But I like to learn about my bike and doing all those upgrades helps me learn more about it.

Next week I'm gonna change to a K&N Oil Filter, switch from Amsoil to Mobil 4T (just to try) and getting my Cam chain Tensioner replaced. I CANT wait!!!

Cheapest easiest mod is go -1 on the front sprocket, -2 if you don't mind losing a bit more top speed in exchange for greater acceleration.

Oil and filter isn't going to do anything for your bikers powar

It will however get you going with mechanicing.

Also, why are you replacing the cam chain tensioner on a new bike?

yeah oil and filter not so much for power, mainly peace of mind for long trips. As the weather is getting warmer and I don't use the choke anymore, I'm going to switch to a slightly thicker oil. As for the tensioner, my cam chain is rattling and the shop has figured it's not a loose valve.

Jumping on this bandwagon. I'd rather screw up now a cheap 250 than an expensive 1000. Plus the added benefit of more power.

Done the exhaust, jetted the carbs to suit as well. Not much more I can do besides general servicing.

I might upgrade the rearsets some time down the line. Scraped my pegs a while ago and now its screwing with my head.

Put a smaller sprocket on the front. The bike will feel more powerful, because it will accelerate faster.

You're not the guy I see frequently quite early in the morning heading up Victoria St and turning into Ghuznee are you? Nice bike.

I spent a bit of time and money on the last 250 I had, was an awesome fun machine when it was done and was a giggle to modify.

I've added a couple of things to mine:

    • Bar end mirrors so I could see behind me instead of looking at my elbows
    • A new bar as the old one had the ends welded in
    • And a nice stebel magmun horn as the factory one was crap

But these additions were for saftey reasons rather than performance or looks (although the new mirrors look pretty sweet ).

Nah I never go down Ghuznee. There's so many 250R's these days it aint funny. I know there's a red one that goes down Victoria St. Has a two bros can and races between every set of lights. He should buy the number plate RETARD.

I'm the crazy guy who filters like a madman cos I'm usually late for work.

Bike is geared low already. Most 250R owners go +1 on the front for better mileage and lower revs on the open road.

The bike can cruise comfortably in 6th gear in a 50 zone, so -1 in the front would be a pain in town.

Jet the hell off it and dump a bit of nitro in the tank. Worked for me to get 36rwhp from a 250.
