Most terrifying : That bloddy homicidal Kockasuckie 500. I used to lie awake listening to it cackling in the gargre as it dreamed up new inventive ways to kill me

Most exciting: Scoring a ride round Puke on a Manx 500.

Of the new bikes it's the Rocket III. The surge as you open that baby up is quite g-force addictive.

most thrilling is a choice between my old 82 Katana 1100 race bike and riding the Blackbird. Both thrilling for different reasons..the Katana..over 100bhp on skinny rims and the Blackbird for the whoosh factor

Sorry to do this to you all, as the Yamaha technicians glibbly remarked due to their disatisfaction of being made to let us have 5 laps each; more people have been into space than ridden one of these. 2000 Factory Yamaha YZR500. Madness.

I've still got an IT400 - it has been known to embarrass a CR250 rider in a straight line. However the "brakes" (or lack of them) mean I have to get off the gas way before the corner, where the new bike catches another gear and keeps accelelrating
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

I had a looks at that site and browsed around (as you do) and found this. This must be the ultimate combination - dirt bike (for the excitement) expansion chambers (for the noise) Kawasaki mach IV motor (for the OMG factor)

"most thrilling" - that's always been a moving target so to speak.

Early days - mates mates blue Kawasaki Mach3. 1st thing was to wonder what all the fuss was about (hadn't got to 5000rpm) and then all hell broke loose and we wailed off into the distance past everything.

Later - would have to be the Moriwaki Z1. Bought every good bit that could be bought while in the USA. It made the Yoshimura version feel weak and the idle would send shivers down the spine. Putting the lights back on and thrashing to Puhoi was always good for a giggle.

Recently - Jim Steadman's Kwaka 125/RG400 barrel bucket. You need to rev the motor well into the "it's gonna blow up" range and then away it goes and the handling! I don't know what you'd have to do to fall off this bike. On it's side, full throttle, boot tucked up but still dragging leather, peg down, dragging the sidestand tang, hanging right off with knee down, and the bike was like a rock.

Now - when it's going the McIntosh can be thrilling. Full throttle anywhere at Pukekohe is asking for something "exciting" to happen.

My most thrilling bike was a 2002 ZX12R 180hp on dyno 325kp/h top speed, stuck like clue to the road on striaghts and cornered like a pro, only downfall 3500kms out of a bac tyre, but it was worth the 300 bucks.
