Yes, some v twin are narrow or as narrow as a single, but such narrowness in regards to the frontal area is mostly totally wasted when the rider is wider than the bike anyway.
I remember the Ducati 851 were as wide as a four of the era as they crammed the batteries and other Gubins on the side to enable them to get a decent amount of weight on the front wheel.
A narrow angle V can get the weight further forward. But Regardless of how narrow you make the bike. The human is a certain width.
the most slippery shape is a teardrop that has the blunt end facing forward. Like a dustbin fairing
    Thats my 1 cents.

Crash starting a CX500 Custom with a knackered rectifier, helmetless in the fading light thinking; how did I get here?

The most thrilling bike I ever rode was a 1928 600 Douglas. Fuck all brakes, hand change and the frame flexed like a five bar gate when you changed gear.
Grunty enough to be a serious worry as it had a lever throttle which stayed where it was set.
    Definitely an acquired taste.

not the most thrilling but sorta. A mate had a cx500 turbo I had a cb900. The cx turbo blew the 900 away in a top gear roll on the 900 would get the jump but the turbo just flew by.
The "thrilling: recollection is a rg500 with pillion through the middle of Wellington. I just could not keep the front wheel on the ground

Honda C50. It was the first bike I ever rode, I was maybe around 8-9yrs old. That was the most thrilling experience on a bike ever, because it began a new story in my life.

Since I started this thread 19 years ago LOL... 2 years ago I brought the same bike back, yes buzzi to ride but... not what I remember, i was promiced it was in the same nick when I sold it... nope dident even run, brakes sized a one side poorly repainted...
moral of the story, should have left it in my memory... however I sorted it and got it as tidy as i could, sold it again, and made 2k on it so not all lost
24yrs between these two photos... same bike same ranga.

ID:	354120 Here's another thrilling bike I had for a number of years. Didn't want to sell it really but physically it's a younger mans bike and just got too hard to bounce back from after a longish ride.
It handled and stopped and went like hell,I loved it.

(it was way better than I was).

I ain't got no pics but back in the day, probably before I started shaving, I had a brief shot on a CR500E.
The bike was built by Honda UK to enter the National enduro champs and the rider was out training in our usual riding area.

Of course he gave us a shot and it scared the crap out of everybody. I was riding a big bore 2t at the time but the CR was a beast. Slightest bit of throttle and it leaped away. No idea what it was like on the pipe but the bottom end was scary.

Later in the day we saw him flat out along a fire break, still the fastest I've ever seen a dirt bike go.
