I have set minimum word length to 3 (was 4)

and you can now also use boolean full-text searches.

• apple banana
  Find posts that contain at least one of the two words.
  
  
• +apple +juice
  Find posts that contain both words.
  
  
• +apple macintosh
  Find posts that contain the word “apple”, but rank posts higher if they also contain “macintosh”.
  
  
• +apple -macintosh
  Find posts that contain the word “apple” but not “macintosh”.
  
  
• +apple ~macintosh
  Find posts that contain the word “apple”, but if the row also contains the word “macintosh”, rate it lower than if post does not. This is “softer” than a search for +apple -macintosh, for which the presence of “macintosh” causes the post not to be returned at all.
  
  
• +apple +(>turnover <strudel)
  Find posts that contain the words “apple” and “turnover”, or “apple” and “strudel” (in any order), but rank “apple turnover” higher than “apple strudel”.
  
  
• apple*
  Find posts that contain words such as “apple”, “apples”, “applesauce”, or “applet”.
  
  
• "some words"
  Find posts that contain the exact phrase “some words” (for example, posts that contain “some words of wisdom” but not “some noise words”). Note that the ‘ "’ characters that enclose the phrase are operator characters that delimit the phrase.

The inability to search PD is a pain. Threads I want to reference from time to time are in PD. Threads that had value but went off topic get chhucked into PD - but the stuff that had value is now unsearchable.

(or am I wrong?)

Maybe a separate search specifically on PD is warranted? I understand there is a need to avoid bringing crap back to life and I'm happy for it to stay dead... but the valuable stuff in there is gone forever too.

Today is another time where I'm seeking legal advice placed by Grub (in this instance) and I can't find it. It's unclear of my search criteria are bad or if it's in PD. I have my money on PD though as there are some pretty obvious key words I'm searching on.
