how much leway have you with rear shock?

    Talking about this thread... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28732

I am in the need of a rear shock. Jim has kindly offered me his old one. His is 360. I measured mine (still on the bike if it makes a difference at 300)

    Thoughts?

Cowboyz log on to the Katana Planet web site and ask the chaps there. Believe me some one there will be able to give you any measurements you need.

They really like their GSXFs there!!

That is a huge difference which will be amplified once the shock goes thru the kinkage. Years ago I put a VF1000F2 shock into my VF1000R. The shock was 5mm longer and this equated to a rise in ride height of 23.5mm at the rear. Really sharpened up the handling nicely tho.

It's not just the length that's important; the stroke, spring rate, and the geometry of the linkage are all critical. You could get a shock exactly the same length and find it's too soft or too hard, depending on the bike it was previosuly fitted to and how it was mounted.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
