    Big ups to Big Dave

Well i've met this guy many many times before as im sure a 99% of the Auckland KB crew have done. Always thought he was a top bloke and he always seems to pop-up randomly when you are thinking 'it would be mint to get a photo of this'

My friend is moving to Christchurch on Monday, and one thing she loved to do was go pillion on my bike. So i figured what better present for her to remember me by than one of those mint pics that Big Dave caught right in the moment. It's of the two of us riding along SH16 just after the lookout, with Kaipara Harbour in the background. And what can I say - She loves it!

So first up thats a big THANK YOU to Big Dave for allowing me to give a gift as special as that to a friend I wont be seeing for some time soon.

I also just visited his 'new' website, and its really good. Thing is its not just photos anymore, theres a bit of stuff in there about him too. Ya see, it turns out this guy is a REAL hero. You'll have to go to the website to have a looksee but after reading about him i have to say i have a whole new respect for the guy. He's not only a biker, photographer, photoshop and web geek. He's also a pretty good guitarist (found this through his site too).

If you havent met this guy yet, then if he's in town try and make an effort too - ya can't miss him! I suppose there are many more people around KB like this, and all I can say is that i'm really glad we've got people like Big Dave amongst us. So if there is someone you think deserves to be known for their exploits then why not put something up so that everyone knows who they are and what they do to help. big guy!

i was just thinking that as i went to get some firewood in... we always seem to celebrate people when they aren't with us, which i find really wierd. Surely it's better to let them know while they are still around than to 'hope they hear us' later on.

I'll tell you what else is rewarding - I have probably had 200 emails like this one I also got today.

    >>Hello David,

I am from a tiny country in middle of Europe : Switzerland. The landscape
isn't as bright as the kiwi's one, but it's in some place very nice.

I have to thank you about your articles and opinions on the Ulysses. I just
bought one three weeks ago after several month of thinking. You help me to
make my choice. And I am very happy of it.

Wish you a pleasant journey on the uly.

    Best regards
