Who purposely scuffs up their new riding gear???

    Hey everyone,

I dont really consider it a ritual, but whenever i get new gear (gloves, leathers, boots, etc) i scuff them up purposely on the track, driveway or road (not by crashing)... I do it even though it doesnt stop me crashing... Fark im some sort of weirdo...

Who else does this??? Who does similar things (like taking away the magnitism between the bikes fairings and earth)??? Or am i the only weirdo like Winja???

Dont do it with my riding gear, though that could be debated after my barrier pole incident But I do it with all my new shoes. I hate having people comment on "my new shoes" I find it embarrasing.

i try not to have anything to do with superstition etc. Don't believe in it. But for some reason, I have to scuff something. When I wore my leathers for the first time, I walked near a wall with my elbow out an inch more than I needed, just to catch the wall. Then thought, wtf?!?!
dunno why.. I guess if there is ever such a thing, I don't want to find out at 200kph.. walking under a ladder tho, or 3 drain covers etc.. bring it on
    go figure

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

No dude, you are mad. The only breaking in my new gear gets is exploded bug guts. I spend the entire time I am riding trying to keep the leather etc away from concrete/tar seal!!

Just picturing in my mind, all these riders heading home with their new leathers, racing inside to stick them on, getting all excited and racing out of their house, jumping high in the air to do a swan dive onto the concrete where they proceed to thrash about like someone having an epileptic fit.

Good stuff. Me, like to keep things looking good for as long as possible.
On a naked bike they get crappy pretty quickly, with cow shit, bug guts and riders in front with sticky tyres.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

first time out in my new leathers, i came off at over 140kph and slid for a couple of hundred yards. Is that the kind of scuffing you had in mind? Made me look like a hardened racer in minutes
