As a paid bus Driver for a company that drives mainly School and Charter, I recently was on the receiving end of the verbal abuse, it got to the stage where the local police where involved and also the Education Board, thankfully my employers are understanding and back me all the way, as a Driver you do have the right to refuse to pick up passengers unfortunately the first driver didn't realise that trouble was mounting. I'm glad that they have cameras in the bus and hopefully the little 'bitches' 'slappers' are caught.

My thoughts are with the families, these guys where just out trying to make a living..

Bring back full borstol then compulsory Military training if you aren't going onto further education.

    A-MEN to that!

I like the note at the end of the stuff story link "It's a pity parent's weren't called" I suspect they might not have been overly interested or capable. I don't know them so it's not a 100% fair criticism but hell. If my kids were ever the perps of that I'd be there in a flash, bringing the cops with me.

Funny how a cop get's access to pepper spray (for self defence) and abuses it, while a driver (who would have been quite entitled to use the stuff) can't...
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

I've always wondered how many people who went through CMT just added to their bag of tricks things like 'unarmed combat'. Seems like a great idea on the face of it, and good for thrity years ago, but is that sort of knowledge we want to give people like this in this day and age?

Thanks for that, guess I'll only be looking at the bike for a while, another ticket....maybe you can tell me why they make fast machines but limit the speed??? But you GOTTA love the Canterbury roads so straight, enough time for the radar detector to alert.

It is natural for kids to run in packs - the trick would be to get the pack into doing something acceptable, like choir practice or rugby, instead of running amok beating up little old ladies.

No it's not all the parents fault. In saying that it would be difficult to bring your kids up in certain areas or because of social pressures is a cop out. I brought my kids up for most of their life in Eastern Porirua (we've moved now) and I have a son in the 1st 15 at Wellington College (he's one of the youngest) and a daughter who recently attended a Shakers training camp and a young leaders conference day. Sure there are the odd kids that will go "off the rails" regardless of their parents best attempts, but the fact is that in 9 times out of 10 the parents are equally as culpable as these hoods.

    I agree with MR's comment

I did the Limited Service Volunteer course 7 or 8 years back, military training for dole bludgers, about the closest thing we still have to CMT, it was only 6 weeks long but it made an impact, I’m no wanna-be hard ass but there were a few there from skin heads to gangstas and nothing puts you in your place like a soldier blowing the shit out of you, just like the guy in full metal jacket, I saw a short ass runt navy instructor bring a giant Samoan guy to tears for setting off the fire alarm and a guy cowering in a corner after calling a corporal “sir”, he works for his dinner fuck pig!

2 years of CMT would sort out a lot of these social retards, so they might know how to fire a gun, do a dive roll, iron a shirt or walk in step but it’ll teach them to respect as well.

honestly....what those girls did was totally disgusting. and yes, they know they cant be touched by the law for being under age, but i hope they do get some form of punishment...proper punishment too, not this pansy shit the "parents" are seeming to dole out these days.

damon....i was meant to do the LSV course last year, but got turned down cos i was too heavy for my height. would have been good for the fitness point of view, but not for respect since i already have too much of that!

Like Damon mentioned courses like the LSV dont teach them how to be killing macines but rather how to accept an order and some discipline. Would love to see some little smart arse tell a CSM where to put it

Having trained LSV's a long moon ago I can attest to the fact that it does change people for the better. There was one young lad in particular who visited me about 3 years after he'd done the course. He made a point of contacting me to thank me for difference I made in his life - He'd just been accepted into the Airforce for officer training. I didn't do anything but teach him self respect. You can bellow at people all you like but they have to actually want something for them to change their views.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying that's an excuse, but I'm guessing that since you find 'Eastern Porirua' worth mentioning, that is was more 'difficult' or 'challenging' if you will. I'm just saying it must make what's a hard job (raising teens) even harder.

I must admit, I was assuming that by CMT you guys were meaning some actual time training to be a soldier, not the 6-8 weeks LSV stuff that's around these days... that's not CMT imho.

Its a start, look at what id did to the kid cola knows. What about if you want to leave school before 7th form without a job or course to go into then you do the LSV, its only 6 weeks but it can make a huge difference.

    Baby steps.

The LSV is sadly the only thing we have anymore but I would solidly support CMT if it was to comeback, it takes a couple of weeks to get used to it but by the time it came to leave I wanted to stay, 2 years of proper training should crack the hardest nut.

I went straight out and applied to be a fireman in the air force, I passed all the tests first time up and then spent a year waiting for them to call, eventually I thought fuck them and went out a found another career which was sad but you can’t wait forever.

If you have a look at other countries that have CMT they don’t have nearly as many problems with their youth, and when they leave they have a nice bundle of cash to have fun with, have you ever noticed the number of young Israeli backpackers?
