CMT would work in a country like NZ because our gumbermint is usually only committed to military projects like building bridges in the pacific. There is no way that CMT pers should ever be sent into any conflict situations. Even a 6 month expanded LSV course would do the job. The cost could be offset by the benfits that would be saved.
The main opponents to CMT are those who say "We don't need a huge armed forces" and "How is it going to make them better - by creating soldiers capable of inflicting more harm than they did before?" to these people I say;
Get your head out of your arse. The world isn't a pretty place anymore. If you want to hug these little f*ckers to make 'em better, let's see ya do it on a Friday or Saturday night downtown. In the meantime teach them how to be self sufficient and give them some values. You never know, if you're getting the crap kicked outa ya then they may even come to your aid.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
Yeah, I was thinking of Israel as a good example of the virtues of CMT. Cambodia also comes to mind... well either that, or you do time in the police over there.
