Just make something up. For instance you could be master at arms for the local bike gang.

Everyone's gotta do something to pay the rent. As long as it aint selling 'p' cos that's bollocks that is.

Go on, mate, it'd be nice to know the details. What do you do on a day-to-day basis, exactly? Which division or area are you in? Have you ever pulled any of us over and done your best to hold back a giggle?

man.. I saw DBA's and thought i might not be the only sound geek on here! I'm an Acoustic engineer (no, I don't do sound work for bands). Consulting advice (you think tradesmen charge lots?) for developers generally on what they should/have to do to avoid acoustic problems in their crappy buildings. So if you live in an apartment and you can hear the neighbours, it'll be because the developer didn't pay attention to what someone like me wrote (or it was done by one of our competitors and they cocked it up... we don't do cockups... honest!)
Happy to tell anyone what they should do if they've got problems with noisy kids upstairs (gag them)/toilets flushing/traffic noise etc etc. in their homes (just don't ask me to come look at it or I'll have to "make you pay")!

Hmmm. I haven't posted about myself here yet, have I?

I write software for a GPS navigation company, in their in-car product division. Since there's only one company doing that in NZ it shouldn't be too hard a stretch for you guys to figure out who it is.

I like it here because I get to do Proper Engineering and escape the mindless tedium of 'IT' style software development.

Sorry but you might still be the only sound geek here. DBA (in IT terms) stands for DataBase Administrator. Ie, the clowns that look after/run databases.

If it makes you feel any better one of my friends who is a DBA is also a massive sound geek (more from the studio recording side of things).

I work at Carter Holt Harvey in Mount Maunganui and do all of the shipping documents for export pulp and paper around the world. It sounds like I send Cajun the EDI Export Entry's (Cedo's) for all of the ships. Let me just say PAIN IN THE ASS CAJUN..........the new requirements!
Used to be a waitress/restaurant manager, gardner, coal mine worker in Ausi (sprypaing and sandblasting), kangaroo shooter..............been a bit of a jack of all trades!

Day to day just fighting the forces of evil.

The only bikers I've ever pulled over were wearing gang patches, except for scooters because they get nicked heaps.

Like Firefight's, a noble calling. Your lot would have 100% support, respect and admiration from me if only we could agree on a definition of evil...
I guess FF is lucky in that his foe doesn't come in all shades of grey.

As it is, full marks to you for coming clean (even if there was a notable reluctance earlier!)
