well. a huge day for me today. first up, went flying, instructor was happy, so i flow solo for the first time. it was all quite emotional really - had to pull myself together to remember how to do a touch and go! then, phone call from auckland - "i'll be down to buy your bike tonight". yup, the aprilia has been sold. i'm havin a little weak moment here, seeing it ride off into the distance was a bit emotional really. so now i'm bikeless, although i do have a one owner, 5000km honda c50 that i bought for $50 last week if i get really desperate.....

and on top of that, in sympathy with, and out of respect for spud, i too have decided to come clean.

i have pulled the pin from the force after 13 and a bit years. i'm actually still employed by the police, but i'm waiting for my perf to come thru at the moment, hence i'm not working. i've decided to go back to aircraft engineering for a bit, but my long term goal is to go flying for a job. doesn't pay all that well, but it's what i want to do, and that my friends, is the most important thing of all.

and i've only written 2 tickets out to motorcyclists. one to a gang dude on a tricked $40000 v-rod at 149km/h, and one for a 197km/h effort on a GSXR1000 on swamp rd after paeroa in 2001.

Ahh, Oracle. Love some things (Intermedia, function based indexes), but hate others (no OFFSET/LIMIT or equiv, just the stupid ROWNUM trick).

Currently spending much of my time bedevilling my client's Oracle DBA with requests to switch on various advanced features so I can use 'em.

Well I'm not sure if I have many skills I can share - I work part time at Internal Affairs call centre, so if you need to know anything about New Zealand Passports, New Zealand Citizenship or Births, Deaths & Marriages in New Zealand I'm your gal - please note we do not deal with Visas for entering other countries or permanent residency or work visas.

I'm also gettin' me an ed-ja-ma-k-shun doing a Social Work degree at Uni full time - 2nd year of a 4 year degree.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

I got the name quite a few years ago, (when I was less responsible than I am now of course) when I took a bet with some mates to see who could make the best Spud Gun. You know thoose virtual cannons made from PVC pressure pipe that use a BBQ igniter and hair spray to fire potatoes, oranges etc. Anyway my effort kicked their butts and I won the Spudchucka trophy, which I still have today, (not that I participate or condone in this sort of irresponsible & hooligan behaviour anymore). Its a dumb name I suppose but thats how I got it.

Hmmm, if my memory serves me correct, they are illegal. You wouldn't be condoning such activities would you??

Don't worry, your secret is safe with me.

I made one last year, pretty cool aswell, but of course it was strictly for "research" purposes.
