Funny thing is the DBA loves it. Most of the other developers he works with don't get much past basic joins, and then whine about DB performance when they make multiple queries and futz with data in the application layer, or don't want to learn about how to take full advantage of the tools.

Me, I'm lazy. I'm not gonna rewrite Oracle in Java when I can get it to do subselect and UNION magic to make my life easier, and if a little effort on my part learning about function based indexes makes things hum along, well, so much the better when it comes time to talk contract renewal. I have my eye on a pretty little RF400, and I got to pay for the toys somehow.

It's gotten to the point where the local distributors are just taking the piss.

I think I've seen your Brutale parked in Manners Mall a month or so ago. Nice looking bike in the flesh - magazine photos always play up the "wierd" things like the tank wings and oval lights in such a way they don't look right, but it looks beaut in person.

Ahh, well, the officers who attended mine can tell you about one that didn't. Just the stupidity of having these five words:

    Learner. Driver. Subaru. Legacy. Turbo.

I now know what a Legacy looks like upside down, since I somersaulted over the bonnet. Actually felt a bit sorry for the driver, though. Like the law says, he had a full license driver with him. You'd think she would have mentioned that doing a U-turn on a blind bend wasn't a clever thing to do.

The cop who attended had an alarming story about having had one of his patrol cars peeled in half when he'd stopped on the motorway, lights flashing, and someone travelling at 100 km/h "didn't see him".

Your DBA is probably glad to have someone that actually thinks about how the data will be pulled out rather than just doing the same thing they always have for the past 10 years. I'm in a team of 6 developers now, a couple are legends the rest are fairly average. Coming from a DBA background performance is all I think about.

I just heard that season 4 is due in mid September !!

Whitcoulls had 3 copies of seasons 1,2,3 and the season 1 packs were in a smaller plastic box rather than the current box sets.

I've only parked it there twice and usually when I bored at lunch on a Friday. Normally it's in the part alongside Mobil on the Park. Not sure why they put those wings on the tank, maybe so it would look a little less like the monster. Who knows. To be honest I didn't like them much until I actually saw one. I think they look quite different when you see them for real.

when these sorts of purges go on, its best to be right at the top of the food chain or pond scum. Nearly fully qualified as the latter...

I manage a small retail store for Bridgestone/Firestone,unfortunately this does not give me access to the Bridgestone motorcycle tyres,at least not at a decent price,it does however give me a fair bit of freedom to work on the important things in life like sidecars and buckets.

Well I'm a chef and a solo Dad....so if you need a babysitter or a good cook then I'm your man .......And if you need to your tread depth checked then I qualified at that too !!...Otherwise I have 25 years biking under my belt and can usually pull it apart and put it back together again with a minimum of parts left over !!
A man can move much faster without a millstone around his neck, so if he gets the chance to lose her he'd better drop her and run like heck !! .. (10cc "Modern Man Blues" - Deceptive Bends)
