I just had a really novel idea after reading about the strengths and weaknesses of the stalker unit. Not that it's got anything to do with the technology itself but what if we all decided to obey the speed limits for a month - and managed to get all the car drivers on board with the idea too - none of the police would be able to hit their 'quotas' for speeding tickets and Helen's Xmas party fund would be fucked. Could we obey the speed limit's for a month to make to Govt look silly?........Nah, doubt it.

Big McJim what a bloody funny idea... that would have the cops really steaming, as we are all told that the idea behind speeding tickets is to get people to slow down, so why did anty helen set a quota, well its all about taking from the rich (deamed as rich by having a mode of personal transport) and filling the coffers to pay for the poor (generally the useless wankers that can't be bothered helping themselves out / up !)

All that would happen is that the Government would claim victory and raise direct taxes to make up the deficit. Bastards!

Nicely cynical Oldrider...but if they raised the direct taxes then they wouldn't get in at the next election coz we'd remember the tax hike, the broken promises, the totalitarian dictatorship etc. and we'd vote for....we'd vote for.....err....is there anyone worth voting for? Damn....you gotta good point Oldrider.

No, There would still be accidents, so they'd just lower the speed limit further until the revenue came back up to budget.

    Talking

Thought long and hard about the way this is going (not really - sat in front of the telly and sank a beer) and have considered - if we really want to keep riding at workable speeds all we need are inflatable Helen Clark dolls that we can put on our pillions...then any court in the land will let us go as fast as we like!

It's for the 'fastest' - until you lock it.

Then the other speed keeps showing but you can't lock it too.

Thats why I only ever issue tickets when its a one on one situation or when the fastest vehicle is so fast that you can visually see that it is moving quicker than anything else in the radar beam. Not all cops are robots, some of us actually know how this stuff works and carry out our duties with that in mind.
