Well the Wanga gods where good to us today with no rain for the ride . I would like to go there & get back with out someone crashing just once would be Excellent ! One had a off going in but was able to ride the bike back out but was abit sore tho . Apart from that a great ride in with the road at 7.5 out of 10 with just some wet areas to keep all on there toes . Was Sweet that Festus & his brother turned up on their TL's 1000 & may I say that bike of ya brothers is very Kool with wiper motor activated dump valve [ hope Demonwolf got a pics of it & the under seat muffler . Great feed & afew J/Beams then we where on our ways back to Toko . The pace was very good with Dazza on a Superduke doing his best Steve Briggs imitation chasing that bloody Silver GSXR rider . Stopped at the Stratmore saddle to bring the pace of the ride to a stop & regroup & talk some Shit which is something that should be remembered when doing group riding , Told all that fun time was over & we would take it easy back to the Toko Pub which was done " Thanks to all for this " A beer & some more chating was had then afew hand shakes to Festus & brother & all parted on their ways home . Sorry no pics left camera in the shed before leaving home Bugger ! Hope Demonwolf got some to post . About 12 bikes all 1000cc Twins & Fours of all brands today & all looked & sounded like they had a great day out .
    See ya all next time

Most excellent ride, the dude on the yellowy/greeny TL certainly kept up a good pace, nice personal touch mods too by the way. 17 sportish bikes not counting the Tiger & BMW that where already there or the dude that binned it or the Ulyssus (sp) dudes that turned up or Mike on the Cagiva Raptor who met us @ the Toko pub on the way out, a nice aray of motorcycles. That bloody silver GSXR better watch out when I get that NO's fitted, I may not be able to control her that good though. All things serious though it was a good ride which everyone I spoke to throughly enjoyed the day,"the vee twin club" not.
Bike breakdown, lets start with the jappas,CBR thou, K3 & K4 GSXR thou, the Dude that binned it on the GSXR (bad luck dude, hope the body isn't too sore, that 4x4 post came off second best apparently) 3TLs's (nice to meet you's fella's) ,TLR,R6,2 VTR's,Triumph Daytona 955,955 Sprint,Ducati 900 Monster,3 Aprilia Millie R's & little old me on the Super Duke.
A big ups to Metzler for the Z6's (bugger that's right I haven't payed for the yet), handled the wet and dry tight stuff with confidence,no slides what so ever and did push it a couple of times.
As mad as a spider, and twice as hairy !

    Great ride..

Great to meet up with ya Festus (and your brother), nice mono's =)

Was mid-pack on the way in, with a nice pace set, stopped on top of the first saddle, waiting for the others to turn up when we were told that someone had taken out a 45k sign after locking up (though on the way back I couldn't find\see where this happened). Mounted up and took off and there was a heap of pea-gravel and on the second corner I locked up my rear when changing down a gear to take the corner nothing major (phew).. think I saw Pritch008 speeding along from Whanga side.. up the second saddle was good, but coming down from it.. boy was it wet.. the 3 or 4 bikes I was chasing opened up the gap while I nanna'd it down the last saddle. Heading into Whanga and I was abit relieved, parked up, ordered a beer and a plate of chips.. sat down for a well-deserved guzzle and heard two TL's .. and one with a very interesting note when de-accelerating. (I'll have to see what pic's I have.. will look when I get back home tonight).

Once feed (bah.. they had forgotten my order! and Dazza's but he changed his from a burger to toasties.. which was promptly delivered.. but my chips weren't even when I reminded them a coupla times.. Though in the end, I got a plate full of chips and wolf'd them down) everyone mounted up.. letting 2 faster bikes past, going up a wet slippery saddle, had the rear power spin around a corner which gave me the willies! I settle behind them with a Yellow 955i following me. Think I held him up a bit coming down the saddle.. never mind it was a good ride.. came to a pit stop on the first saddle coming in. One of the lads that I let through made a comment bout the rear spinning up round the wet corner.. was amused (I was still abit jittery!). Mounted up and took off.. after a quick jaunt we catch up to the first lot (well they had stopped at a rest area) sweet.. pitstop for me.. Get good cellphone reception and a few summons and demands from my loverly partner. Everyone is having a chat, ask how far to stratty as I'm already on reserve, should make it.. and then we mount up again.. doh! everyone's keen and gone.. and I'm still putting my gloves on! I'm off and no-one is in sight.. So I'm trying to catch a glimpse of the others.. pass a few vehicles.. and a guy with a trailor load of rubbish on the side of the road with him wandering back to pick up the rubbish off the road! See the others just passing a cattle truck before the next set of twisties, but I'm stuck behind him for a couple hundred metres before I'm game enough to pass him.. Stop at the toko pub.. admire the other bikes, have a chat bout the TL's (and there annoying squeak!) I get another summons and everyone mounts up.. this time I position myself behind the others and heading into stratty following the two TL's.. very nice sounding. Fuel up, leave the TL's.. and I head off to work to reconnect the WAN. Once thats done.. head back home, abit windy out Kapuni way.. get a few spits but nothing major.. get back home intime to help with the Roast dinner before our guests arrived, take the cage to the supermarket to pick up the items I forgot to pick up!

Cheers for the great ride guys.. I'll put up some pic's this evening

Yeah Andre, I had a look when I got to the pub but there was nobody there so I carried on. Saw y'all not too long after. It looked quite impressive but I couldn't spot everybody since I was a bit busy myself sometimes.

A magic ride to National Park and back. Had breakfast at the Kaieto Cafe both ways. On the Saturday there was a guy on a green ZXR (?) dining el fresco. He was travelling Hamilton /Ohakea but had wanted to try SH43. I think he was impressed, bloody shoulda been :-)

What a magic view; Ruapehu and Tongariro in full glory.
Saturday's ride would rate right up there with my most enjoyable ever.
    Sunday wasn't too bad either.

Might go back to Whanga one day. Like maybe next weekend?
