A nice dream. I doubt New Zealand could produce the necessaries.

I agree hitcher, but atleast they have gave it a go. I reckon puke is actually a better track and would be a good track fo GP racing.Originally Posted by Hitcher

If someone passes you he is a nutter and you expect to pick him off the blacktop round the next corner, if you pass someone they are a slow and have all the gear and no idea
The track would be Taupo? I presume as it's the only one that's FIA approved?

That may help if we were going for a Bore-mula 1 round, but would the FIM sanction aid the MotoGP campaign?Originally Posted by Hitcher

Jandalled [jan-duhlled] past tense - usage: "bro, I've just gone and jandalled it"
And the New Zealand Team will a do a Haka :slap:
Having seen ( please note 'seen' and not ridden on ) the new track and the development that is going on there today, I have to say that the consortium that is building up the infrastructure are doing a great job, and I'm sure they're going to get some great meetings there in the future.
But is the new track suitable for MotoGP? Well it's the $64,000 question isn't it. Standing atop the pit wall I'd suggest the new part of the circuit is far too tight for MotoGP bikes, be that 990cc or the new 800cc (It may be good for the 125s and 250). But then I'm not a class rider by any stretch of the imagination, and the likes of Stroud or Harris will be far better placed to comment than me. Yes, today we did not see the older part of the circuit in use, but I personally doubt that will make too much difference apart from add about 800m of straight.
But we do see other small and tight circuits on the current calender such as Sachsenring, and the MotoGP / FIM folks are said to have been here and made some recommendations ahead of a possible 5 or 7 year contract.
Fingers crossed, and I'll dig deep for a ticket if they come here.
Be interested in the thoughts of other experienced national racers here... Nicko ??
I doubt they spent all that money upgrading the taupo circuit just so they cant hold international events there. Im sure involved parties would have done their homework before money was spent. If they sign up for moto gp on the condition that the track meets FIA standards Im sure people will invest even more coin in it.
Mate, Carl (Karl?) Raborn died at Puke when the bikes went a 1/4 of the speed they do now.Originally Posted by Wellyman
The layout of Puke as a race track is good.
But Armco and bikes do not mix.

second that... (still recovering...)Originally Posted by Crasherfromwayback
As for taupo... I would have to have a good go at the full circuit... But it feels very much a layout for 600's (the equivalent of top GP250's...) But there are some current MotoGP circuits where the 250 times are very similar to the 990 times...
See Robert Taylor for any Ohlins requirements www.northwest.co.nzThanks Colemans SuzukiThanks AMCCI use DID Chains and Akrapovic Exhausts
I'll start a petition website for all those interested in supporting MotoGP.
Check the other threads, but I think a bit of New Zealand support could be the ticket
All those in favour say eye!
Post the link and I'll add my name....
