Well that was a shortish ride!! Great weather and LOTS of bikes out.. I'm sure I've never seen so many on these roads on one day! Nine of us went to Maraetai, Clevedon, then Rayza took off and we were down to 8 to Kawakawa Bay. Then split into a group of 4, then 2 when I rode back with LL Cool M.

Found I'd only done 80km when I got back, and it was still early so went back out and did Monument Rd. Saw 3 police cars heading towards Clevedon going quick, one with lights on. Hope everyone got home safely!!

LL Cool M, you ride very well especially given its only been five months! We should have done Monument Road on the way back!! I'm sure you'd enjoy it and it's pretty close to home! ( and it was almost all dry! )

Thanks for pointing out the Monument Road option to me Leong, how long did that take you? I am keen to try more open rides like this as that is what increases skill the fastest. I will most likely give Monument Rd a go in the next weekend or so, and am also glad to know of the Kawakawa option too. I didn't have too much of a problem with duration as it is still good to go out for a quick burn for a few hours.

It seems the faster you can ride your Kawasaki, the more smashed up it looks. Mine is fairly immaculate.

I am sitting my restricted on Wednesday (sat the Basic Handling ages ago when I had no bike) so this was a good ride to get me into the groove of following the speed limits for that.

Hey good to see you lot! There was a bike who stacked it further up once we turned back at kawakawa don't know who it was but ambo and 3 piggies went past us. Texmos' side stand switch broke off and we think pulled partially out of the wiring loom so his bike was not rideable.. sigh. Mr policeman had a chat to us while we all stopped on the side of the road and talked crap.

Good to see you motoricer ;P cheers for the spin on your baby.

Took less than 45min with traffic. I just go to the top of the hill, then turn back. Lots of good roads out that way, and much less traffic than Whitford/Maraetai/Clevedon. You can do a small loop if you go to the end of that road, turn right n go thru the Hunua Gorge and into Papakura.

Yes, definitely increases skill fastest when you push the boundaries. My first KB ride was August 2005 when my mate and I, on VTR250s we'd had for 2-3 weeks were blown away by gixxer thous and a lady on a Hayabusa! Learnt how to use my rear brake independently that day, and overtook my first car that day too!

His side stand switch came out, hit the road and wouldn't work regardless of setting and cutting wires/joining etc etc so we think something came out of the loom. He got picked up by his brother witha trailer, we spent 2 hours talking shit (motoracer/brett/texmo and myself) waiting lol.
