My 1989 CBR250R had a rev-limiter for sure. Found that out on the straight at Puke. Bit surprised at your old CBR400 dropping it's guts.

I have been around bikes for years but you dont really change farm bikes oil so whats often on a Road bike of the CBR250RR calibre?
I've always seen 5000 km for oil, 10,000km for oil and filter.

This does not apply to modern bikes (year 2000 and above), or does it?

This does not apply to two strokes.
My CBR250 lived at redline all the time, and had well over 90'000kms on it.
The rev limiter hits at 21'000 rpm so use 19'000 all you need
