    Cages

I had to take the cage to work today, as I will for the next two or three weeks.
Because my wife can't drive yet after her op, so I'm Jeeves.
But how do people commute by cage day after day, week after week?
After one day in traffic I could feel my life slipping away.

Mate tell me about it!. I do 110k's/day in the cage and all in peak hour traffic along the southern motorway. It sucks!

I belive the trick is to keep distracting yourself from the mundane task of driving ...
make sure you keep busy doing you hair, playing with your stereo, having a shave, txting people etc.

    that should do the trick

I gave commuting away years ago. Moved closer to work instead.

Rather than a 10 hour day (8 working and 2 travelling), it now only takes me 5minutes to get to work.

Less tired at the end of each week, less travelling costs - I would never go back if I could help it.

Worst thing about car pooling was waking up wondering if you have been snoring, spittle hanging from the chin etc, and three chicks in the car !!

    Sigh....
Typical Aucklander, assuming that your driving conditions apply everywhere else I use the car most days as I only live 10 minutes from work and I can't be arsed to kit up a lot of the time. Mind you, when I'm working in Auckland, I have exactly the same feelings as you!

I sold the car, so I cant take it even if I want to now. But when I had to take it previously it would drive me absolutely batty. It wasn't as bad before I got the bike because I didnt know what I was "missing".

I worked in the inner city 10 yrs ago - never again. My 85km semi rural commute into the city takes me an hour doing over 100kph most of the way,a relaxing drive....but I wouldn't do it on a bike.My travelling companions are B trains, the Pajero is smaller than them, but a bike is a mere irritation on the road surface.I've lived close enough to walk to work several times, definatly the way to go,and I hope my next job is just a walk away....

I've been caging the last few days for various reasons. Still got pulled out in front of by Mum and the kids this morning. Stopped in time. Do you think she could read my lips

I've noticed the Welly traffic from the Hutt has dropped off this year if you go after 8am. Takes me about 10min longer in the car, and parking is free at the moment till they label some of the new car parks at work, at it's cold, and it's been wet, and the car is cheaper to run.
