John McGuinness took his total of Isle of Man TT victories to nine when he led virtually from start to finish to win today’s Jester Interactive Superbike race on his Honda Fireblade, in the process setting new lap and race records as well as a new outright lap record.
His winning time was 1 hour 48 minutes 52.06 seconds, an average speed of 124.764 miles an hour. Ian Lougher, Honda Fireblade, was second, 39 seconds down on McGuinness with Ian Hutchinson, Kawasaki, a further 23 seconds away in third position. It was Hutchinson’s first podium finish. Fourth to sixth were Martin Finnegan, Australian Cameron Donald and Jason Griffiths.
One of the earliest retirements was that of Bruce Anstey, who was third on the practice leaderboard. However, unlucky Bruce only made it as far as Crosby – little more than four miles from the start – before being forced to call it a day.
Guy Martin, who was second fastest in practice didn’t make it much further than Anstey and his race ended with retirement at Sulby Bridge while Adrian Archibald retired at the pits at the end of the first lap.
When McGuinness completed his second lap the news came through that he had again broken the absolute lap record with a speed of 127.93 – and that included slowing up to re-fuel!
The race was run in brilliant sunshine on just about the hottest day of the year in the Island – in fact riders had been warned to watch out for melting tar on one stretch of the course!
Result – 1. John McGuinness, Honda, 1 48.52.06 (124.764); 2. Ian Lougher, Honda, 1 49.31.20 (124.021); 3. Ian Hutchinson 1 49 54.61 (123.580).

I took a work laptop home and listened to the race on TTradio - it was awesome! The sound of the bikes backing off & then opening it up past the commentary booths....almost like being there! Then the post-race interviews; some of the guys were ready to keep going, after racing for 1 hour and 48minutes!!!

Superstock, Monday

Bruce Anstey held off a fierce challenge from Ian Hutchinson to win the four lap Superstock race as the Isle of Man TT Racing Festival continued in near perfect conditions, but there was disappointment for the pre-race favourite John McGuinness who failed to find a good race rhythm and trailed in fifth aboard the HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR.
New Zealander Anstey, who had won the corresponding race last year, was at his most determined, battling to shrug aside the memories of a first lap breakdown that had sidelined him in the opening Superbike race. Ian Hutchinson (Kawasaki) finished second with Jason Griffiths (Yamaha) completing the podium. Guy Martin (Yamaha) took fourth place well clear of McGuinness.
Ian Lougher brought his Blackhorse Finance backed Honda Fireblade home in sixth place, just ahead of the similar machine, running in Klaffi colours, in the hands of Martin Finnegan. Mark Parrett, Yamaha; Gary Carswell, Suzuki and Rob Frost aboard the CD Racing Honda Fireblade completed the top ten finishers.
"I had a lazy first lap and had a couple of moments - you could say I had lost the plot," said McGuinness. "It took a time to get into a good fast rhythm. I rode as hard as I could, but could not make any impression."
Again, I listened to this over the 'net. John McG also talked about the Honda not being able to rev as hard as the Suzukis & Kwakkas, this not helping him to get the power down.
Gary Carswell talked about having to ride the last two laps with water on the inside of his visor - he was having to guess his lines based on his knowledge of the course!!
At one point, there was .9 sec between Anstey & Hutchy; on the last lap Hutchy had to back off for two yellow flags on the fastest section of the course....who knows what might'a happened...
Sidecars, Monday
Honda powered the winning outfit in the first of the festival's two Sidecar races, with Manx crew Nick Crowe and Darren Hope romping to an easy victory, some 47 seconds clear of Steve Norbury and Scott Parnell.
The local crew were running an outfit built by Dave Molyneux, the record eleven times winner of the event, who after crashing heavily during practice last Thursday has decided not to race the Mountain Course again.
Norbury threatened in the early stages to deny Crowe his second TT victory, running just ahead on the opening lap as they powered into Ramsay, but after the dash across the mountain, the locals were thrilling their fans as they moved ahead.
"We took it steady on the opening lap, and then wound it up," explained Crowe who made good use of his power, running some 16 seconds ahead at two thirds distance, and then with a final lap at an average speed of 112.625mph pulling out a massive lead.

Supersport, Wednesday
John McGuinness pushed the lap record up to an astonishing 123.975mph on his second lap as he fought tooth and nail with good friend Ian Hutchinson for the entire race distance.
McGuinness eventually took the chequered flag by 8.9 seconds from Hutchinson with Bruce Anstey further back in third.
There was drama at the end of the race when Hutchinson was disqualified due to illegal camshaft dimensions. (The organisers have deemed the bike illegal due to a 0.2mm difference in cam dimensions.)
This meant that John's winning margin over Anstey was 26.4 seconds whilst the disqualification promoted Jason Griffiths up to third.
Setting off at number 3, John led on time at Glen Helen on the opening lap but only by the miniscule margin of 0.8 seconds.
As expected, Hutchy pushed John hard but the Morecambe rider responded and as they flashed along the start and finish line in excess of 150mph, the lead was up to four seconds.
A new lap record of 123.263mph had done the trick but it was still too close for comfort and John continued on at a frenetic pace.
The gap was the same at Glen Helen (about 9miles away) but by Ramsey John was beginning to edge away, his lead now up to 7 seconds and by the Grandstand it was up to 9, courtesy of that stunning 123.975mph lap.
John McG:"That's ten TT wins now - I'm getting up there with the greats! It feels absolutely fantastic to win today and it was such a hard race and I had to concentrate all the way. I saw +12 and then +7 on my boards so I had to keep pushing all the way to the chequered flag - Hutchy was riding brilliantly today and that's why the records went.
I knew Hutchy would be good and he's been doing the job all week. He's had no advantage with his machinery in the race but they've still kicked him out. I'm gutted for him but as far as I'm concerned he still finished second in the race. He pushed me all the way so, he's the star of the future"
Hutchy's problems
McAdoo Kawasaki rider Ian Hutchinson was this evening stripped of his second-place finish in the Isle of Man TT Supersport race after being disqualified on a technicality.
The exhaust camshaft lift on Hutchinson's bike was found to have measured 7.25millimetres instead of the regulation 7mm although race organisers stressed the infringement was inadvertent.
TT officials insisted there was no suggestion of cheating - the discrepancy was a result of components that had been independently supplied to the McAdoo team and would have given Hutchinson no power advantage.

Sucks for Hutchy,all that hard work... pretty cool tho', to have someone like McGuinness say you're the next big thing! I think Ian's only 26 or summat...and a real quietly spoken guy when being interviewed.

Senior TT, Friday
John McGuinness shattered both lap and race records as he scorched to his third victory of the week in the Isle of Man TT Festival, finishing ahead of Cameron Donald, Bruce Anstey and Ian Lougher as Honda riders packed three of the top four finishing positions in the prestigious Senior race.
The 32-year-old Morecambe rider used his tried and tested tactics of powering as fast as possible into the opening to break the challenge of his rivals, and he has a superbly prepared HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR for the race.
McGuinness was ahead, but by only half a second, as they charged through Glen Helen for the first time, but mile by mile, he was extending his advantage, and also upping the record speed, taking that opening lap in 17m 39.95secs, an average speed of 128.146mph, faster than the record he set in his winning TT Superbike ride the previous Saturday.
But there was better to come with McGuinness revelling in the near perfect, sun-drenched conditions as he shook off the challenges of Guy Martin and then Cameron Donald. As he pitted for fuel and a change of rear wheel, he had powered further into the unknown, with a lap on 17m 29.26mph, an average speed of 129.451mph.
That put him 12 seconds ahead of the determined Donald, aboard the Robinson Concrete backed Honda CBR1000RR. The Aussie, riding in only his second year on the Island, and with broken heels, the result of a crash in last month's North West 200, clocked a second lap of 128.445mph.
At the second refuelling halt, McGuinness was running 25 seconds ahead, and he was able to ride within himself over the final two laps, checking his signalling boards to take the victory that puts him level third with Philip McCallen and the late, great Steve Hislop in the list of all time TT winners.
"I don't think that I have ever ridden better round here than that. It was an unbelievable victory, awesome. I decided to push from the very start, the bike did not miss a beat, but they pushed me all of the way. It was a tough race.
"The second lap felt good and fast. I had a blistering ride over the mountain, and was able to focus in on Guy Martin as a marker, and then I went ahead of him on the road. It was a terrific lap.
"I am not too fussed about speed, rather, I wanted the win, but this time is was a case of going as fast as you could to achieve that," reflected McGuinness.
"I'm still stunned with that. It is only 18 months ago that they invited me to come over here as a newcomer. I just cannot believe how this race has gone, or my lap times." Donald
Anstey, despite a scary moment or two on the opening lap at Ballacraine when he clipped a bank and some bushes, took third place for the TAS Suzuki team, finishing some eleven seconds ahead of Ian Lougher, riding a Honda CBR1000RR in the Stobart Motorsport colours.
Guy Martin, riding Yamaha, took fifth place, ahead of the Kawasaki of Carl
Rennie and local rider Davy Morgan riding another Honda CBR1000RR. Raymond Porter, Nigel Beattie and Gary Carswell completed the top ten finishers

Steam Packet Races - Paul Dobbs done good! Some great results for him at the races that signal the end of the TT fortnight.
During the post race interviews, Gary Carswell (10th) raved about his Gixxer, which is bog standard and purchased just two weeks ago!
And the fact that Donald, at only his second visit to the Island (and broken heels!), came second, and second to John McG....is incredible! The IOM is in good hands with him, Hutchy & Guy racing 'round there.
Once again, it was a superb race to listen to - can't wait 'til next year! only
348 days, 19hours & 8minutes 'til I'll be listening for the distant wail of a screaming exhaust, bike & rider then appear and approach at incredible pace, then flash past leaving behind a trail of hot air, fumes and a wail that quietens off into the distance.... bring it!

Bruce Anstey burnt out his clutch on the start line of the Superbike TT, being a bit over-enthusiastic. Also in that race, the guy who I would have been pitting for in the Senior, Barry Wood, crashed at the 11th milestone, at about 120-odd mph. He was very lucky to get away with only a boken collarbone and concussion, but his R1 is totalled. The swingarm is broken, among many other things.
At the end of that race, I managed to get across the mountain section while it was one way. Definitely something to do once in a lifetime, I was sitting at the hairpin, so I managed to pick a quiet time. It is a bit wide open for the BM, doing about 150 the entire way across the top. There's been guys still hooning past me when I've been over it before, I guess doing another 50km/h?? Crazy stuff.....

I'm sorry to report Jun Maeda didn't make it.
He has passed away due to injuries from his crash during practice week.
Until the end, he spoke of getting better & returning to the IOM.
Saw him in the pits once; seemed a cool kat. Quick smile, friendly, but piss poor english!Out on track he gave it the berries!
