oh and ivan, Water cooled.... YEAH RIGHT![]()
Just do the head, you get most of the benefit but not so much of the aggravation. Also you can ask anyone who has ever done it to confirm this, but the most difficult part of watercooling a bucket is sorting out the pump. On the TS based motor I did, which ran a sleeved down RGV250 cylinder and full crankcase reed conversion, I removed the oil injection pump and it's drive shaft, made a new shaft, and manufactured a waterpump that fitted into the space previously occupied by the oil pump. It took a few goes to get it so it circulated water properly and the seal that stopped water getting into the gearbox had to be replaced regularly. My old AC50 used the thermo-syphon principle to circulate water through the barrel and my new MB motor will use thermo-syphon as well but I've only done the head on that. We used an electric pump on our MB sidecar and that was by far the best idea for getting the water around. The sidecar had the head and barrel done but it was a rear engine wormy thing so needed to.Originally Posted by Ivan
