Six Day Enduro in New Zealand

Maybe it's just me (quite possible as I no longer read every thread on the forums) but I've yet to see mention of this.

Yes we're all hoping that some freak occurence will happen and we'll get a round of the MotoGP. But how about celebrating the fact that we are holding the Six Day Enduro this year somewhere around Taupo.

    Start: 14/11/2006 End: 19/11/2006

What's bad about this? Nothing as far as us having the event is concerned. But the fact that I only found out by reading the Wikipedia entry for "Six Day Endurance" and it mentioned that it was being held in New Zealand.

Where's the advertising? Where's the news coverage? Will it be televised? We're talking the oldest off-road motorcycle event. And yet nothing. 5th division rugby, sure we'll cover that. World class motorcycle event? Nothing.

Time to start emailing the networks and making sure they understand we expect someone to cover this event.

    [end rant]

Is anyone here planning on going? True most of what I know about the event is from watching Malcolm Smith participating in "On Any Sunday".

There is a web site , but last time I checked ( month or two ago it hadnt been updated )

I tried to enquire about the requirements of road reg the bike as I understood it may be needed .. ( lets say I gave up )

The person that has been the most forth coming with the info is Greg Power ( and I reckon he is busy organising the thing so big thank u to him)

The thing as I undersand it is that the bike required to be road reg and required a VIN ,,,with associated costs

and if the country enters a junior team then only an individual teams can be entered ( no individuals )

So since no one wants me on there side ( team /club andywhere near the water tank) , I gave up

To give you a scale of the following in Europe ,, think of a very big thing, then make it bigger ,,,

There better be TV coverage and not just 3 min on shell super cheap sports as sponsored by the 2 dollar shop

Well some of us know, and have known for quite sometime,as far as I'm concerned it's a huge feather in our cap.Other countries are doing elimination rounds to pick their riders, this is a world wide event....being staged here! A friend of mine is involved in the shipping and transport,mega...mega.The amount of officials that have to be here for the event are in the hundreds, they have to be housed and cateered for, each team has maybe 3 containers of bikes and equipment....these all have to be sent to NZ and then shipped to Taupo. This is a major event.....and no one gives a toss....

Kiwi Rider is the official mag for this years Six Day and we have been giving it as much coverage as we can for the past twelve months or so including pages set aside for regular updates from the organisers. Go here http://www.isde06.com/ for more info.

We do! We're doing as much as we can to publicise the event. Five months and counting.....

It used to be the pinacle of achievment, not as famous as the World Championship, but for the rider maybe more important, atleast back when it was the International Six Day TRIAL.I remember when we started to send our own team - wow, imagine being that good that you could be picked to represent our country in such an event - Vege,Greg Power...did Tjebbie go? I could only dream to have a fraction of that skill. And only a few years ago our own Stefan Merriman was just pipped to the win by Stefan Eberts.....with hardly a ripple in the media.

Stephen, take a look at the July issue of KR (on sale very shortly) and the two page update on the '06 ISDE by Nick Reader. If you still have any questions or gripes, write us a letter and we'll see what we can do and pass on your concerns to those in charge.

We are doing what we can to push the event but are the first to agree that more can (and will) be done.

To give you the short version, last year some time when I heard the isde was going to be in Taupo ( folks live in Napier) , I thought great opertunity to race in an international event !

So I contacrted everyone I could think of, and came to the conclusion ahh sod it

For a start , if the bikes use transit nz roads ( Ltsa, useky or what ever they are called now )

Then the bike would have to gain a VIN and go through the VIN process , at 250 odd dollars etc not a prob but needs organising

Secondly , as I said , if the country enters a junior team then indiviuals cannot enter. which left me the option of trying to create a team . ( I think there is a thread on KB about that !found it ,,,June last year!!!click here )

Wonderful web site , Taupo looks clean and green and full of adventure ,,,,but any ACTUAL infomation ..

I think i spent some time googling and went to to the fim site

either way its not happening for me , so lost intrest

Might enail the Japanese team see if they need a cook and bottle washer !
