What teh hell are you saying?

Anyway my RM was eating plugs and it was my crank seal and I got a new one fitted adn it made a HUGE difference.

Or are you talking about jetting?

I think that you are making way way to much of a change in the jetting.

And would only change one jet at a time and by one maybe two sizer's at a time.

Or you could lean out to much and put a nice little hole in your piston or seize your piston.

Make small changes and one thing at a time and write down what you did and what happens, so you can remember what you did and what it did so you do not lose the plot.
And you can always return back to a earlier and better setting if you stuff it up.

Repacking your exhaust can change the way your bike runs, or putting it a better way.
A worn out and stuffed packing can make your bike run worse which can make you think that you have to change the jetting to get the bike to run better again.

This link may help you understand how to tune your bike better.
It's not for your bike but will give you a good idea what to do and what to look out for.

I did have a better link but it has been taken off line.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

Ya thats good then. I got this bike awhile back but never got to ride it much, had carb issues, seems it had a kit put in and was all fkd up. ie: hence the post of what is currently running it in now, and the question put forward for views on that. All Im saying is I know a few guys runnin 42 pilots down from 52 and they claim there bikes are sweet as.
You ride an rm cheese? Whats ur jets? And ya ya I know what works for one dont mean ya da ya da.. but ?

lol, good question, thats why one would have thought a board with riders sharing experiences would be better than one mechanics say so over anothers.

Yeah I ride a 96 RM. It's the year they modded it alot from your year, but I think (really not thet sure) that the carb is the same.

So here you go, the jetting instructions from my manual.

    I hope that this helps.

Just so you know a Manual for a RM is only $30. I have used mine ALOT!

I'm from the BAy too, but live in auckland now... I'll see you at the next big ride down ther hopefully. I want to do the 5 hour one.

Seems like you are on the right track to getting your problem sorted, so when you have the carb off/apart to change your jetting remember to check/clean the float needle valve and check/set the float bowl fuel level (the setting will be given in the shop manual). Either of these can cause rich running/spark plug problems.

    No worries.

I'll give you a yell if I go to the river.

Have they built that new track on the river closer to hastings?

Ya they have, the boys like the tracks down Guppy Rd so we hit there most weekends. Some good tracks there for them to learn on. We might go to the Hastings track this weekend, had a rumble over the track on the DR looks all good. Alot of people using it also, so will take a dozen and shunt those 4 tokers aside
When are you heading down? If you do, keep an eye out for us, like urself we're Suzuki share holders: if u see a cple of lads on DS 80s and an "ole man" hangin on for dear life on an RM pull up and say hey

Ive got a workshop book now 'Rogson', n thx for the tip; every little thing I do I record, except to expense side, dont want the wife to throw more toys outta the cot..the excuse ~ "determination to get it right" has gone down like a lead balloon, but but but...

yeah I'll be the guy holding on to my RM for dear life or pushing the bike.....

Another tip, there is LOTS of RM bits on Ebay. I've got a pipe swingarm and linkages all for $400 ND delivered.

I saw a motor complete for your one on there for a few hundy not so long ago.
