Tuono Sorted

Have to share that after three months I have finally sorted my Tuono out with all the bits necessary to make it easier to live with. Scottoiler, Ventura rack, Derestricted, Renegade full-exhaust, DNA filter, 16 tooth front sprocket, and PCIII usb with Dyno-tune. Sounds and goes awesome

and all I've got to do is learn to ride the bloody thing like it should be. Bring on some dry roads and warm tyres.

I had an SV 1000s before this and it always bugged me that it didn't have the proper TL engine. It was a pretty good bike tho in hindsight, and when I weigh up what the Tuono has put me through, I might have been able to tweek the SV a little and frightened a few more Italians. Nah. Who am I kidding. Loving the Aprilia, even if she is a bit high maintenance.

know what you mean about the Sv..i am sure there a great bike but for me personally i would rather spend money on the old TLs suspenders etc than have an SV.I have spent and am spending a fair bit of money on my old S and quite frankly cant ever see myself selling it..i have become quite attached to the old girl really and on my favourite roads keeps up ok with most things,thought about buying an Aprilla but reckon i will keep the TL and hope to buy a gixxer 1000 to keep it company,anyway i digress...enjoy that bike it sounds awsome.

Agreed... the SV is nice, does everything nicely, and they've got the midrange pretty much perfect, but after riding the GSXR1000, there's room for another bike in the shed! What gearings on your TL 98tls? What we really need is a 150hp full fairing SV/TL/GSXR hybrid... the GSV

Strictly speaking I don't expect it to require any more "maintenance' than a Japanese bike. More like a high maintenance super-model girlfriend. What I meant was that it seemed to need a lot of setting up. Some because of the circumstances I bought it in and some because I had some expectations it didn't live up to initially.
I bought it off the net and only realised that it had been lowered with aftermarket linkages once it arrived. Had to wait for linkages to arrive from Italy. It also came with a cool alarm immobiliser, but only one remote. After much web-surfing I think I have tracked down a spare. I have been terrified of losing the only one I have.

I wasn't that impressed with the low to mid-range, and throttle response so accessed an aftermarket exhaust system, lowered the gearing, derestricted the airbox etc and fitted a PCIII and got it dyno tuned. It's certainly a lot more sensitive to suspension set-up than I am used to but that's to be expected. I just need to put the time in. It definitely goes like shit off a shovel now, with only minor fettling left to do hopefully. I need to recalibrate my riding to fit it, but now at least it lives up to the hype.
Everybody knows that high maintenance, hot women are worth it, even if it's only because all your mates want one too.

Yeah I was running them pretty low that day,have upped the pressures now and have done a further 1000k's some of that was in the pouring rain on the Sunday back from Hamilton on the long weekend and was more than impressed,seem to have no worries with grip on the the front Z6 either.

Aha the full story,I guess that's what happens importing a bike with no dealer backup (not meant as a dig).Yeah it will take a while to master the riding style and suspension setup,(has it got an aftermarket rear shock fitted ? )but once your there mmmmmmmmmm nevarnah (sp), I did enjoy my brief ride on the Tuono when I rode one a few years back,mates got a 2002R and is looking @ Tuonoing it. Good choice of motorcycle,if your ever up this way look me up and i'll introduce you to our roads,just don't let that prick on the silver Suzuki know

I got the bike because the price was right but it is a bit of a minefield for the inexperienced like me. I have also considered the Super Duke (not a good bike if you lisp) but at the time they were way pricey and didn't seem to be as good for touring. Therre are some second hand deals on them now though. The second hand bike market is flooded with bargains. I will definitely look you up if it ever gets warm enough under that mountain for me. A mate is trying to get me to head over for the longtrack speedway when it comes back.

Definately look us up if you come up for the long track as my mate has got a secure garage within walking distance.
I've done about 13000k's on the LC8 in the last 10mths,once down to the northern part of the SI,you've just got to plan your route and petrol stops,15ltrs is not many k's,my last bike a 2000R Aprilia had a 20ltr tank which was good for 300k's if you where nannaring it.
