Big boys kiss and make up.

Just thought I'd show you who's staying over at my place tonight - hope they don't get up to any hanky panky while I'm away...they are a couple of big boys.

The black one is a 1973 Mercury Marquis, the owners aren't too pleased with me cause it broke down with a casket in the back. The white boy is a 1965 Cadillac De Ville convertable.Over 900cu in nose to nose - I'm gunna cook a rice pudding tonight...tomorrow I peel skins.

Saw that caddy today as I went past... bloody hell what a whale.... fftopic: I saw one (or something big and american anyway :P) in a demolition derby once on Waikaraka park. Would spin out lots, but watch you didnt get hit by the tail..... Incidentally that race was one by a VW beetle, which seemed to be able to survive anything, just by losing one wheel arch at a time

Yep, had a '67 Caddy Fleetwood when I was in the States, cost my $250 but I had to buy a battery for it - what a rip off (not!!) it was a great whale and gave me no grief.

While we're on the subject of V8's

I'd love to get my bike to sound like this....

    yeeha!!!
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

It's not very rewarding working on these things - emotionaly and financialy - we are only patching them up,adapting parts etc. That's how we worked on things in the old days, but it's not acceptable in this era.Mainly because we can be taken to the cleaners, and customers just moan when 30 yr old cars keep breaking down - like,it's all our fault eh.Mind you I can take it off the Funeral Director - how those guys can keep their cool when things go wrong is beyond me...I'll take the vent.

Funny story on the Caddy - if I say it's owned by the guy across the road Posh will know who I mean...an ex Mr NZ he's,um,well developed. So we had it in for some work last year, finished and I did my road test - then had my scrawny apprentice park it out the front, give him something to tell the boys at tech about. When the customer picked it up that night it started with a big belt squeal, that was embarassing,do all that work and not tighten the belts. He drove off no problems - but next morning rung to say he thinks something may be wrong with the Caddy, seems heavy in the steering,so I got him to bring it over.Shit,it's got no power steer at all! the pump has siezed and sheared the shaft.

Funny how it happened soon as he started it - but the thing was undrivable! this guy drove it home and back the next day thinking something was not quite right,he doesn't need power steering - maybe we should disconnect it and he can use it for training!
