This outage has nothing to do with generation, its a transmission fault. No amount of generattion will be sufficient if the power can't be transmitted from the generators to the substations.

South Africa are in deep shit at the moment because one of their two nukes is out of service. Some one left an 8 cm long bolt inside the turbine after maintenance, and really f...ed it up.
    Time to ride

BCP update and all that crap

Well we still don't have power here at my work in Panmure/Mt Wellington.

But boy has it been fun!!

I have just drained diesel from an ERF (well I directed someone to do so) so that we could top up the emergency generator, which by the way only runs the stupid server room! On start up it fires up the emergency lighting, but then the lights run on battery packs, which incidently only ran for 2 hours and only run in the main orifice. People love to go to the toilet in the dark (note to self to recommend upgrade to the bank)

Everyone is starting to whinge about going home, but if I let them go I know the power will start up again within 15 minutes or so, so fuck them they can clean the fridge and rearrange my filing draws and such like.

Oh and Happy Birthday FINN. Love your work

What time do you pen pushers start work!? I had been at work for 1 1/2 hrs and we had been open for business for 3/4hr before the power cut hit - and you lot were still commuting! No wonder you complain about the traffic - you are the cause of it!

We could still work,if somewhat in the dark. But my hoist didn't work and no computer to do WoFs.Nobody came in anyway,I guess they figured they'd give it a miss.My phones didn't work, the non power phones had dial tone but wouldn't make calls....couldn't transfer calls to my mobile.Just another hic cup in life.

A few more than arrowtown eh?

I was just out in the car, stopped at the lights and wham something hit the side of the car. Gave me scat marks in the suit, looked around and realised it was just a gust of wind. The wellingtonians out there might be used to this, but i'm starting to be glad I brought the tintop in today (bring it on hecklers!).....

Power is now on here in Aucks, so you guys can get all your made-in-Auckland produce delivered tomorrow. Speaking of every one paying for Auckland's roading, I'm sick of paying the same price for a loaf of bread as Joe Wheatgrass the hill billy cow cocky who for some reason pays the same price for a loaf as I do yet his loaf gets transported into the middle of nowhere using shitloads of gas and part of the price I pay is to cover this. Roads my arse. User pays, I want cheaper shit.......

    Man i need some food......

What has that got to do with the price of bread? bread just arrives in a shop from a factory...no questions asked. Like eggs, they dont come from anywhere do they? Thats right they come from a shop!

Us Aucklanders prefer low-GI gluten-free rice bread. The rice comes from china.

Heck, I'm just jealous - some friends are moving down south Alexandra way. $450,000 for a big 3 bedroom house on a large section. Daily commute of microscopic proportions. Where a crime wave constitutes some one stealing a surfboard. And bread is only $2.50 a loaf....
