    Angry Daylight Robbery

For a whole week I have been quite sick with the flu - been trying to go to work cos I don't have sick leave yet, new job, moved to a new city. Today I gave in and went to the Dr - now I'm really fn ill. $145 later. $65 for 10 mins I queried the fee!!! That's Wellington prices - in HBay its $40. Prescription of 2 inhalers and antibiotics $82. I would have liked to have eaten the next fortnite, badly needed to buy groceries, oh well milkshakes again. I only have the one income and live alone. Don't drink, don't go out to dinner, I had one luxury of smoking but that has been curtailed - OPs. Would love to get out on my bike right now - and go for one hell of a blast - but wouldn't have the energy to hold the bike up.

Man I would hate to have an ongoing illness like diabetes or cancer - whatever that entails regular visits to the Dr. Don't know how families survive.

I have found one bugbear of living on your own with no family around and friends working - ya have no-one to look after you! Oh for someone to make me a lemon and honey drink! lol Mind you I'm better off than my ex brother-in-law who's in hospital having biopsies. He certainly won't be riding his bike for a while!!! I think when I'm well I better offer to take it for a run!!

So stay healthy so ya not crippled by Drs!!
    Cheers

    Ferkin tell me about it!!!

What really smacks me up (and I have a great GP BTW - no disrespect intended) is I'm a type 1 diabetic. It's not a lifestyle condition, it's not going to get better, it can only get worse and I still know more about my condition than the Dr and I end up advising what the perscription should be! But if you don't have a community services card... ouch!

    On the other side....

At least I'm still alive and healthy and trips to see the specialists at the hospital are free as well as my regular eye exams so it's not a bad deal. Especially when 100 years ago I'd probably be dead by now....

The $$ pain IS hard to bear but, thats life, you just have to factor it all in and budget for it. Just another reason why I can't afford a flash new Guzzi I suppose ;-) hmm... Maybe I could claim one on health insurance????

I'll help out wherever I can, have done so before and will do so again but isn't this just a case of staying tucked up warm in bed - to get well?
I just had that god awful flu and all you can really do is take some time to let it run it's course.

When I broke my ankle it was worse than that BMW. I had the Dr's fees (even subsidised by ACC) $50, Xrays $75, Taxi's x 3 @ $30 each then got reffered to the orthopeadic surgeon who recommended surgery. Thankfully I talked him out of that expensive option. I've got subsidised health insurance so I claimed most of it back including taxi's. I make sure I claim for everything I can.

I had new lens implants into both my eyes in recent times, $3k an eye, didn't get them both done at the same time, but still............
And it was only a 20 min op, and he was doing 9 eye op's that morning, then had the balls to tell me he was going sailing around the Greek isles or where ever for 6 weeks. I guess, for good health you pay good money, i really have no quams with how much i was quoted/charged, i read one line better than 20/20 on the eye chart thing so im happy.......

Reality is you're white, don't have 15 kids, go to a GP in an area that's not full of Maori/PI, and clearly earn over minimum wage. Sorry love, you don't fit the government's funding criteria.

Thankfully cancer patients dont pay. Not from my experience anyway, but Im sure there is somebody out there with a terminal disease that has to payout thousands every week to pay for drugs that Pharmac wont subsidise. I really hate those bastards.
FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

nods the doctors charges just as bad in some smaller towns ..

also with regards to the community services card .. the threshold has risen its well worth a call to see if you qualify .. being as you live alone even if you are working, you could qualify

Work & Income did a presentation at our corporate work recently .. even though I am on a excellent wage as I live alone I qualify ..

also another good natural remedy for flu's colds etc .. try immunofort .. when you feel it coming on take a double dose for a week.. works a treat & is much cheaper than a doctor visit.

Anytime you need a hand - sing out. Can't do much about making drinks & TLC but whatever else...
