Phone call to cost you your license for 3 months?

Watch out if you already have lots of demerit points against your license. The ones you get added for being caught with your cell phone to your ear while driving after Nov 1 could be enough to tip the scales over the 100 point limit where you will lose your license.

    Ouch.

Not that it really matters for me, but just out of curiosity, how many demerits is it if you are caught?
Cats land on their feet. Toast lands jamside down.
A cat glued to some jam toast will hover in quantum indecision

Curiosity was framed; ignorance killed the cat

Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.

I find the helmet gets in the way on the bike. I really don't need to speak to anyone that badly that I can't just pull over to take a call or call them back later.

When someone phones you, it is hard not to answer the call.

Easy answer: Get a headset or better still get a Parrot car kit that works with the car stereo.

No excuses really and there can't be any complaints.

    What a bloody stupid article!

Are they suggesting that no matter how many demerits you have, if the demerits you incur as a result of being busted for using a phone take you over the 100 limit you shouldn't get them?

Get real. Demerits is demerits. Doesn't matter how you get them.

I spent 9 months on 95 and didn't lose my license.

Should be 100 demerits I reckon.

    HTFU phone users.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Bollocks.

It is bloody easy to do.
I LOVE driving people nuts by NOT answering a call. You can visibly see them twitching as they want to get up out of a seat and walk over to the phone. Then you get the "aren't you going to get that?" with the associated "look"...

So the phone call ain't costing you your license at all, rather perhaps the other odd 80 points you've gained by performing illegal acts.

    What a dumbass article!

Indeed, as I read it, the ones you earn for being caught with "brick ear" get added to the pile and if it goes over the limit then bye bye little plastic thingy in your wallet. (No, not your "ICE condom", they're not plastic).

Demerits are demerits no matter how you get them.

    About bloody time.
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

Hehe, when I'm on the moronway, and I see a driver on the celly - I always go by with my helmet over to the left and my hand to my ear or pretend to hold a phone to it. Amazing how they never notice, but it's blardy obvious to all the other drivers what I'm indicating
