    Whats happening to KB

I have been talking to people that have been on the site for a while and quite a few of them have been commenting on things that have been happening on KB that they do not like.

Now some of you will say "shut the fuck up and get on with it" but in reality some people arent using the site for its intended purpose.

The site is deliberately divided into sections to try and filter out the 'shit' from the good stuff. i.e if it isnt bike related it goes to the "rant/rave" section.

I know i have been guilty of going way of topic at times but on the whole it tends to be getting out of hand - e.g my dyno day thread in the "meetings and events" forum has a whole page of utter bullshit about a scow - now a scow is a boat, its got nothing to do with bikes, and nothing to do with organising the use of a dyno so why was it getting talked about there...

Also the multiple account thing, sure it WAS funny but people are just getting sick of it now.

Kiwibiker is supposed to be a community for talking about bikes - "A site for all New Zealand motorcyclists", of course this includes the good'ns, the bastards, wankers and what not but we cant help that. But we do need to be a bit more considerate for others on the site as many people are considering leaving the KB community because of shit-slinging and gossip, all of which has started to get a bit personal at times.

Another thing that was bought to my attention was that some personalities are 'taking over' as it would be... this i believe just comes down to real life personality, but some have been offended by others simply in the way they seem to overide other peoples opinions/plans/whatever. Again, a little consideration for others would have this problem gone.

Basically the reason i've gone to the trouble of posting this is because when i joined KB it was just about biking... and babes (but thats another story). I personally dont want to see KB turn into get another forum where people just use it as an avenue to shit-stir, troll, and generally just vent personal anger/emotional trouble from behind the guise of a screen name. There are places to do this, and KB is not one of them.

So please, a little more consideration from everyone and we can get KB back to being about bikes - THINK before you post, is it relevant to the topic, will it annoy the people talking about the said topic?

if you dont get what im saying, check these out - you should have read them when you joined.

in a way yes, but then who would see it? Only the people that go to the site stuff section, which is generally only people that are having problems/need to ask questions.

Two of the UK Blackbird sites I belong to are starting to fall apart mainly due to abuse/hijacking of threads from a small clique of people. It's almost as if this type of website has a natural lifespan, especially a 1 make website.

However, what we have in Kiwibiker is a fantastic community of people who have helped each other out on innumerable occasions and have made lasting friendships, as well as advancing the cause of motorcyclists in NZ. Surely this is too precious to let go and we all have a responsibility to make sure this happens. The moderators could probably help to a limited extent but finally, the outcome ultimately rests on us as members. No whinging, no buck passing - it's OUR responsibility.

    Great post mate.

oh, stop trying so hard. plenty of time to be mature, and believe me, it's overrated in any case.

use the 'new posts' search facility, and don't click on threads that look boring.

perhaps you could also learn to read faster, or summat. I dunno.

you have a nice bike, go ride it.

thanks, it would be a great loss to the new zealand biking community (that i know anyway) if we were to lose KB to bunch of time wasters and abusers. I think more respect needs to be shown for the people that run the site and do their best to keep it the way it is, which im sure is very hard job at times

Good head on young shoulders there Gareth. You're right, unfortunately. I still enjoy the site, but there seems to be less bike related topics to reply to.

    no, I don't think so.

it's just that relative to the bike topics, there's more shite.

keeping threads in the right areas helps with mitigating that.

and going offtopic, IMHO, is fine, so long as it's not stupid and boring.

you'd achieve a lot more by shooting all the stupid and boring people offhand than by trying to regulate forum usage.

had you knocked on the head before you even spoke, perhaps you could read better and more indepth rather than worrying about speed.

and this isnt only my voice, im just the one that bothered to stand up and say something about it.
