    Playing field or player?

Having just read the "What is happening to this site" thread I wonder why the moderators are not "explaining" to the individuals who are "abusing" other members that their behaviour is unacceptable and/or removing the offending message from the thread.

As we are ALL adults and are individually responsible for our own actions the "Site Police" should be enforcing the rules against the individuals that break the rules and intentions of the site.

I have not read the thread that stated all this and don't intend to but I am concerned that removing the playing field from the players is considered the proper course of action as opposed to the cautioning and possible sinbinning of the offending individual.

As I have said before I am a member of another forum that has members who have very strong political and vocal view points, namely people from the USA and European countries. The moderators of the site come down on any individual who abuses another member like an imperial ton of bricks, removing the offending post and reprimanding the individual.

The "offenders" have on occasions been personally spoken to and have had their access suspended and one individual was banned for over a year.

While I am not suggesting that this is a course of action I do consider that the individual should be dealt with, although this does not seem to be the done thing in society now.

    Mike

I spend alot of time on another forum..like yourself its an overseas based website, things can get pretty heated there as well and posts get deleted etc,i dont think people need an explanation as to why....unless the moderators are complete idiots then they dont delete shit for no reason...once the internet tough guy starts then fuck it get rid of it,theres really no need for an explanation,.

That is exactly what happens on KB.

I know most of the moderators here on a personal basis, they aren't just part of some inner circle, all of them have vast life experience and mature balanced attitudes, they always come across as well meaning individuals. Each of them has earned their position. All major decisions are taken together.

In 99.99% of the cases most of the offending posters know they did wrong, sometimes it's just a prank that goes wrong, sometimes it's a vicious personal attack.

Na, I've finally got all the bits off. Gonna get dinner then spend a few hours with a cup of kerosene and a paint brush until the little 250 sparkles.

Its human nature to argue and get offended when their opinions are challenged. Its good the mods are here to keep things in check although everyone gets offended if their opions are passed off as drivell

You can say what you like to me and I wont be offended (Fairly thick hide). I think I have only really objected to one post that had racial discrimination written all over it. Gathered a bit of red bling for bagging cops but I only prod them to test their true resolve (prob a bit mean really) though I dont really harbour any major ill feeling toward them. From where I see it it is a fairly smooth running board that is very alive due to the freedom of speech we have here. Other boards I have been party to have died natural deaths or stagnated due to over moderation where this board has the potential to do a lot for Motorcycling in NZ. Tolerance and common respect are key words to keep in mind I guess..
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Jandal [jan-duhl] noun: a mythical entity presiding over bikers
Jandal [jan-duhl] verb: "to jandal" is to involuntarily separate from one's boik.
Jandalled [jan-duhlled] past tense - usage: "bro, I've just gone and jandalled it"

JSG, can you please, please remove your tongue from other people's arses? I am not sure they fully appreciate it. Anytime you post this unsolicited sanctimonious crap, I feel like gagging
