    I love this type of flash page: http://www.sabotaz.com/
    Would love to have it for my rugby betting site, but tricky re: database integration.

    If you want your site at http://www.kellylane.co.nz/home.htm to be the exactly the same style then you have two options

    1) Go to

    and then go file, save page as and save the file as common.css in the folder sylesheet all in the folder that is the root of your webserver

    or

    2) if you want to steal their bandwidth open up the source code of the webpage and replace the line
    Code:
    <link href="stylesheet/common.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    with
    Code:
    <link href="http://www.rainreviva.com.au/stylesheet/common.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    I think thats what you were trying to get at in your original post anyway, hope that helps

    Water, air, whatever - just keep pumping, so I can keep dumping!

    Was more asking if it will switch over to mains water if you run the tank dry? Or do you have to put up with toilets that wont flush during summer?

    BTW - I realise that you dont want the pump to keep going if its running dry. I grew up on an island where you had to make your own electricity and find your own water, so have a better understanding than most about alternative household systems.

    All good.

    If mains water is available there is a thing called a "Water Switch" which does exactly as the name suggests, switches the souce of the water from the tank (running low) to street water... available 24x7, except in part of Auckland... espcially during power outages.

    Anyone not on town supply will tell you it's nice to have a stream and bucket handy during summer. If the tank is dry there's nothing to remove those dumpies and you have to ring for the water truck... which is almost always busy with other people because (it seems) everyone uses the toilet during Summer...

    Great Barrier Island. My mother still lives there, she has a few modern conveniences like a generator and a tv but doesnt use them often. A highly religious woman, she spends most evenings singing hymms and playing the piano by candle light, with just a black cat and a wetback wood stove for company. Seriously.

    That's what I was wondering. Just couldnt find mention of it anywhere on the website.

    We grew up rough - if you had a bucket and a stream, why would you need a toilet?

    Life is a struggle for her there, nothing is easy for anyone on the island - that's part of the attraction for the dedicated Barrierite however. I would have to say that Mum's choice in religious outlook doesnt aid her struggle. But she draws a strength from it that suits her lifestyle choice and she has a level of contentment that most people living in suburbia could only hope to attain.

    Is she happy? Sometimes, yes. Life is tough for her, she has to work so very hard for day to day things that most take for granted, but I believe that she draws pleasure from that. Perhaps it is a form of penance? A show of worship? I'm not sure, but I know that it is the way she chooses to live her life (and she does have other choices available to her) and as her son its my duty to support her in that the best I can.

    BTW - that simple question you posed has been the hardest for me to answer in all my time on KB.

    good answer but.

    Every time the biorythms catch up with me or the co-pilot it's 'Motueka and watch the fuckin' tide come in',

    to paraphrase our occasional hankering for a simpler life. i don't know that it would make me as happy as the constantly looming deadlines, but stable full of nice bikes I enjoy now.

    Maybe I just watched too many episodes of Grizzly Adams!

    ok - two more questions

    Question 1===========
    http://www.kellylane.co.nz/how_it_works.htm has a link through to the parent site for a flash object.

    http://www.rainreviva.com.au/how_it_works.asp serves up the image (and subsequent demo) fine... but I seems to have dropped or broken something... yet again.

    Here's what I believe to be the offending code

    HTML Code:
    <a name="animation"></a>
    <div align="center">
       <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="450" height="450">
          <param name="movie" value="flash/how_it_works.swf">
          <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed src="flash/how_it_works.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" height="450">
            </embed>
       </object>
    </div>]
    Question 2===========
    Is there standard code (PHP or Java - whatever fits best on that page) that'll do the equivalent of the "print this page" function at the bottom of each page? Or am I best to just delete that function off there?

    Cheers and beers!

    flash/how_it_works.swf may be loading an external flash movie.
    Common technique to stop people stealing flash movies
